Ok, I'm on. I'm gonna be running around like a chickhen with its head cut off. I'm aiming for a thief that uses poison weapons, or at least is a poisoner. I hear poison is tough to raise, to I'm gonna start that at 50 so I can skill gain on the higher poisons, and just buy/train everything else up.

I'm going by the name Feril, so look out for him.

Gah, looking at the future skill distribution:
    GM Fencing
    GM Snooping
    GM Stealing
    GM Poisoning
    GM Hiding
    GM Stealth
    GM ....

Argh, either tatics or healing, but either way this setup looks like shit. I either suck at fighting or don't have a way to heal myself. Any tips? Is deadly poison enough to make up for a lack of tactics?

    EDITED OUT

OH geeez I'm a moron. Been a long day man, I read healing as hiding.

    My apologies!

As for which, tactics or healing...I would probably go healing.

Actually, you know i'm not sure! Someone else is probably better suited for this question.

Who should I talk to that can sell me a runebook with a rune to the guildhouse? (and eventually each city)

Man it's been a long time since I've played this. Got a lot to relearn.

I tring to figure out how this works.

tried to use the book in the house but kept fizzleing out.

    ::shrugs::

Runebooks can be purchased at Despise I believe. For a rune to the guildhouse there's a few of us that can mark a rune for you. As for the guildhouse runebook, that's been out of charges for a while, so it doesn't work. We need to charge it with recall scrolls, but are low on scribes. I'm slowly working on it and ray's made a scriber himself with far more success, but still slow going.

do i need magery at any specific level to do this?

Well Recall requires 40 magery, so you have to be able to cast it and have it in your spellbook. But you'll need a quill pen, lots of blank scrolls, and work on getting your Inscription up.

I personally like having the ability to heal because if you were to get into combat with a tough foe, just start battle and smack that healing macro to start the process and keep on it.

Try updating and see if it fixes your problem. Run UO patcher from wherever you installed it, and it'll download the latest crap off of EA's server.

Nevermind, I wouldn't patch. It runs like a turd now.

I've re-installed it twice now. It constantly loses connection and then crashes right after.

Edit: We got our forum on Game-Master.net now. Atticus could't tgbob or spackle because spackle doesn't exist and tgbob's member number didn't match.

I was working up swords on forest mobs, and when i tried to heal, it would heal for crap. My hands kept slipping, and never once worked in combat.

with a healing in the 50ish range, I would have thought it would work some of the time right?

or do i need it way higher?

Even in the 90s I still slip and sometimes 'the bandages barely help' message. Thats usually when I have like 5 graveyard mobs hitting me though. Yea, it shows more use in the higher levels.

Since you lack anatomy as well I'm also thinking maybe tactics would be better and just carry Greater Heal potions....

Ok, it sounds like you'll be a hit and run kind of guy, as in using your poison blade as main damage, maybe stealing his bandages and then moving around constantly, probably hiding. I guess I really don't have a "you should do this answer" so I imagine try what you feel and if it doesn't work, flip the skill down and train the other.

Well, anatomy and tactics are leveling up at a slower pace, because i was not able to set up a macro to spam swords, tactics, anatomy, and healing.

I am still unsure about a build though, although my dex hit 100, my str is in the mid 60s and int is somewhere in the 20ish range (off the top of my head). I was going to go Poison/Archery but it just seems too complicated as a first build type char. The same goes for a Mage.....

So I'm leaning towards the sample warrior build in the OP.

    100 Dex
    90 Str
    whatevers left in Int

    GM Swords
    GM Anatomy
    GM Tactics
    GM Parrying
    GM Healing
    40 Magery - For recalls
?? Resist Spells - Do I need this?

So thats 540 out of 700pts with the above build. What else can I do?

I already am GM Hiding, GM Snooping, and 99.5 Music which I got by macroing for Dex. I know I'm going to set snoop to lower. But I was wondering about keeping Music/Peacemaking, or Hiding/something else.

    Opinions?

You can read about it in the Calendar event forum (top forum on the AI boards, it's brand new, so that's why theres only 2 events in there) or you can just click the following link:

It's an event that everyone can take part in (if they make a character for it), and the last one was a hell of a lot of fun, i think you guys will like it.
