Yea you guys know that if someone uses Earthquake they can kill anyone on the ground floors of buildings even without line of sight you know that right? No where is safe. You guys should have got a two story house.
But also, if you are an annoying ass fucking bard who just keeps playing music over and over and stops the combat macroers every fucking time you are likely to be killed anyway.

That's why I'm macroing musicianship in the shop at Britain. So no one gets super annoyed at constant lute songs.
Taco Bell does win the franchise war according to the tome of knowledge that is Demolition Man. However, I've watched Demolition Man more then a few times and never once did I see WoW. In conclusion Taco Bell has more lasting power then WoW.

I'm GMing my fighter skills right now (hired npc method), I hope I can join you guys soon.

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.
Ya know, I wish I had a extra computer laying around. I would throw up a RunUO server so everyone could play around on it. I had a lot of fun GMing a shard a few years back.

Development? I'm intrigued? On which page of this thread might I find more information?
I believe this thread was started for the purpose of discussing making a our own shard. But then we decided it would be best to play on a pre-made shard so all the new people could get use to the game. After that, we would start our own.

Honestly, no idea. The way it looks, everyone is enjoying AI right now. I will see what I can do about setting up a computer this week.
I would love to setup the server and have PA people play. I would love to run events and such for us. And the chance of you being PKed would be quite less.

There is no way to lower stats, is there? (Ewww, unwanted intelligence)
Edit: Never mind, I'm dumb.

In all seriousness-the random interaction with other people is what makes the game. Running into PKers, and guys like that Ork who showed up one day are far more memorable than just whacking a troll with a spear, so I'm enjoying the greater population on AI than what we'd have on a private server.
That's not to say it isn't a good idea, but I don't think abandoning AI just because people get PKed is wise. Heck, I have no pity for someone who gets killed because they're macroing.

Yea, it was just one group of pirates last night that stopped by the guildhouse when noone but macros and afk peeps where there in the backroom. They didn't even steal from the unsecured backroom, just killed folks, lined up explosion potions for a screenshot, and left (though maybe took the odd loot from a corpse kill).

As I've said, the private shard wouldn't be for playing. It's for development. That means you will likely spend 80% of the time writing scripts, and the other 20% of the time going in game to test them out.
Though, it's pretty pointless though, because even if we made some awesome stuff that people could really play, unless we have a dedicated 100 MBPS connection we just wouldn't be able to really host a full time server anyway.
Here's what I was thinking of doing, we take RunUO, and implement:
-Some hardcore Knockout, Deathblow, and Permanet Death system.
-Real time combat, in which your weapon swing is trigger by the press of a button
-Hidden stats and Adjective based stats, replace the skill gump menu with something else
-A realistic economy system
-bloodlines
-A system that tracks your accomplishments in the game and makes a little story out of them and when you die your child recieves this story in a scroll in their backpack.
Of course we would be entirely on our own. The RunUO community is crap, and if you even modify the source code of the actual RunUO server you are shunned from the community.

And quasi, I think everyone will have different theories about what to play. I'd love to play with permadeath and max stats/skills at creation, changable on a whim.

just set all your skills to 100.
That'd work, but I think there could be balance issues of going over 700 points.

I don't follow. I didn't state it there, but in the past in this thread I've said put a timer or whatever in so it can't be flipped around midcombat. 5 minutes, 30 minutes, who knows how long is needed. 5 would probably be sufficient.

they took over 2000 bandages from me when i was leveling healing.
I'm mostly a lurker but I have followed PA stuff for a long time. I played some of the PA web browser based games for a time. I would like to be involved with this. I'll be getting on when I get home from work and starting the character and will try to message you guys around then. I'll get UOAM setup also so I can chat.
It's been a long while since I played UO but I think I still remember my stuff.
I'll be on as:

thinking of a treasure hunter type, once I get established I'll switch to that skillset
You pick skills from a list. Then, you click a button, the game assigns random values to each skills. You never see what the actual value is though, but you see something like
And each time you click the values change around and stuff. Kind of like rolling up a character in D&D. Once you find yourself with a satisfactory set of skills, you accept. It's all balanced out. The less stuff you choose the higher the profficiencies. If you pick more stuff then your chances spread out more.
Now those are the skills your character has. Forever. Any character can use any skill in the game, but only for basic stuff.

And how do you explain this in an RP sense.
Who cares? I can make something up if you really do. But really, why only 700 points worth of skills? Explain that in an RP sense, the list goes on.
Also, random rolling=people keep rerolling until they get what they want best.
The main point I had is not everyone agrees on what to do in a custom MMO, so it'd be neat to try a different type out each week.
Quasi brings up a great point. If our area starts getting a lot of traffic, we WILL be hit by earthquake. We need a tower.
They'd just run up to the next floors and use the earthquake.
So lock your damn doors. No matter where you go, you will always attract attention.
Unless you trade your house for a shitload of boats and live in the ocean, riding the waves and pirating ships.
He's right. We are 20-30 deep on this server, thats 1/3 of the total population. We can go on a tiny island in the middle of the ocean, and PK's will still come. If you macro, you have to realize that you will get PKed sooner or later.
I use to do the earthquake trick on Atlantic. Another solution could be to buy a small tower, place it near by, lock the doors and have people macro on the second floor.

At this point, we go seperate ways and seperate servers.
Hey, if the coders don't want to do that, I won't blame them. I'm putting in 0 effort and 0 dedication to that, and it's totally up to them what's being hosted. I'm just saying what I'd like to see, not what I expect to see.
Also, the #1 rule of UO is don't make any damn enemies.
If you randomly PK one guy, and he belongs to a guild or has strong friends, you are fucked. Likewise, if anyone PKs a random SDI member, that PK and his whole guild should be fucked, by you.

But why would you want everyone to have access to every skill? And then on top of that have perma death?
I posted about it some in the mmorpg ideas forum. I like the concept of permadeath, I like the concept of not levelling in any way, and I'm wondering how they'd combine.
