I was going to wait to post this until it was further along...but my thread just dropped off the forum completely and I feel like posting something. So here it is:

That's fuggin beautiful cake. The colours are gorgeous.
This makes me want to learn how to paint with real paint.
So I am putting up a forum of my own in the near future and I am working on a layout. I will be paying somebody to convert this design into an actual skin...so I want it to be as good as possible before I pay them. I am looking for anything I can get from you guys. Design ideas, comments or critiques on what I have, font recommendations...anything.
Dimensions cake? At a quick glance the head feels a little big.. not much, but noticeable. Don't know how long of a pose this will be, but you'll want to get some cools in her face and/or near it as it feels really warm in that general area.. good start though.
Shizu - Yeah I was just going to do a portrait but the setup was so good, I easily had the best spot in the room. It seemed a shame to not do a full figure. Painting this small is killing me but its good practice for illustration.
The forum is going to be pretty excellent though. You will be able to upload images directly to it, have your own galleries and blogs and all of that jazz. It will be focused primarily on traditional illustration however.
I highly doubt it will need much moderation. I don't expect it to be very large, but I am trying to set it up as well as I can so that it will scale well if people do join.

cake if your face does not = your avatar i will be sorely disappointed. Will your forum be a place like the artist corner where people can seek advice/chat with a strong community do you think?
Sounds cool if its just artist corner but instead of a tiny forum in PA, its own dedicated site .
My avatar is a drawing that Erik Gist did of me. Yes my forum is going to be an art community where people can seek advice. It will also allow you to upload images directly to the site, organize them into galleries...create your own blogs and more. But it's still in construction, though close to finished.
Daniel - The paper is some sort of canson (I don't know that exaxt type...I just bought it for $.49 a sheet at the art store the other day), and the pencils are prismacolor and generals white charcoal.
Thanks Ikage, I made a special effort to draw the hair this time. And I was inspired by this kid from Singapore who has only been here for two quarters...he draws some damn nice hair.
Man, if it where me doing that drawing i'd be tempted to shade the entire face. Instead, you've allowed the negative space to define depth too. Awesome! Reffed or imagination (just curious)
Cake, I don't wanna sound like an ass, but two months? seems like that could be done in a few days as the tone of the paper pretty much covers your middle tones.. unless theres a lot i'm not seeing cause of the photo.. this isn't to step on your toes or anything either, cause I know you can draw.. You should check out some of susan lyon's drawings for sure though, as these kinds of drawings(prisma, conte, etc) can look fantastic.
Yeah that was 2 hours from life. I am a fan of Susan Lyon's though personally I am not aiming for anything so soft. I have a scratchy way of drawing and I like it, though admittedly it can be really tough to draw women that way, so a little softness could really help me.

I like drawing, cartoons, cookies, and shiny pointy objects.

You know you want to.
You should be ashamed.

That's what one of my art teachers told me, I think.
Here is another one from yesterday morning:
