Not only does he annoy the shit out of his enemies with shackle and voodoo, but you throw a Scythe on him and you have an extra poly.
That is 3 CC abilities.
Also, sheeping someone and then trapping them within my wards.
Muahaha.
This reminds me of a game I played against a rhasta...He had a goo stick + euls and was able to take out 2-3 heroes that were ridiculously strong because he kept disabling us and summoning wards with the Aghanims.
This is why I always tell people to wait before they get to their lane before they choose skills with Axe. When you play DotA you need to be flexible enough with your item and skill builds to accomodate the opponent's heroes. Against any heroes with ridiculous amounts of strength, healing items, healing spells, or regen, Battle Hunger quickly becomes frustratingly useless.
Yeah...the dragon knight is one of those heroes. With dragon's blood, he becomes nearly impossible to kill early game. The dragon knight is really interesting though, while he's an amazing tank, I never really am afraid of encountering him in a battle or what not.
Also - I can see the merits of getting berserkers call + helix early game for farming, but the potential hunger has on weak heroes is nice.
I'm in but only if you guys won't kick me for connecting from Korea. Everyone in Korea plays some crazy version of DotA called Chaos, so it takes me 15+ minutes to find a public game of Allstars where I'm not booted by the host. I'm usually on US West as Krapst78.
I think it'll all depend on how you ping...we can check it out...what's the time difference anyway?
And if anyone finds a more up to date map i'll use it - i'm just lacking the resources to find one.
I've only played DOTA a few times, every now and then, so I suck and never know what I am doing, and people yell... maybe I will learn.
If we play an in house with you first, go over some basics, and teach you the strengths of at least one hero, I think you'll be on your way to learning the game.
I mean, there'll be WTF moments when zeus spams you and then as you're trying to run away, he uses his ulti and you get hit no matter where you are on the map, but those are learning experiences and it's good exposure.
Back when my friends and I were noobies...this is what we'd do...
Every week/every 3 days, we'd pick a hero. One week i'd be abbadon. I'd then read up on a lot of opinions regarding item builds, strategies, strengths/weaknesses etc. to get a good feel for him. Then I would go out and try to practice what I'd learn. When I had good enough exposure to know what I had to be wary of when playing against him, I then moved on to a new hero.
Also - if someone is doing really well with a hero, try to analyze why. For instance...
When I was a noob, I was a trigger happy rikimaru. One day I was pushing close to a tower, full health, and figured I could take it. As I began pounding away, riki appeared behind me and then quickly dissapeared. He kept harrassing me like that until I got to 3/4 of my health. When I was that low, he didn't stop striking and I tried to run, knowing that I wouldn't be able to kill him. He chased me all the way down the lane, blink striking and attacking. He killed me before I got to my tower.
I learned that setting up a solo gank with riki is much easier if you have some running distance, since his back strike gives additional damage based on his agility.
Small tactics like that really help in the scheme of things - and looking at what people do successfully is important.
Also - be sure to call a missing hero if it disappears from your lan, as often this means they are setting up a gank.
I play at times, Nion_zaNari on East, West and Euro. You won't find me on East or West unless I'm playing with someone from here, however. I usually hang out in Vent, though I'm currently mic-less.
I'm pretty good with Pudge, though Hook does get harder when playing with higher ping on US servers.

How is Hunger a waste of points? It's a long range DoT that has short cooldown.
That is easily counterable, a waste of mana on a low mana character and can also, in the unlikely event that it's actually going to kill someone, denyable. Sure, it works great on idiots, but if you're playing people who know what they're doing you're never going to do more than 100 damage with it. Saving your mana for Culling and Call is much, much more effective.
Sweet a replay, I'm an addict for them :P. I got a copy of Frozen Throne and I'm ready to play. My B-Net name is also SolidGobi, whisper me if you want to teach a newb to play some time. I have a really bad feeling I lag though Blizzard hates my router...

Yeah, someone sure needs to teach me, because I suck ass.

I'm pretty new to it myself (actually I've played it since it's early incarnations, but not very often), but the first thing that I tried to learn and definitely one of the most important things (I think), is to learn to farm as effectively as you can, when to push and when to pull back, and when to retreat. Levels mean a lot, and since it's so easy to gain them, you can lose the game simply by going back to base and healing (in the early game, it's extremely important to farm for as long as possible, or everyone will out-level you in a matter of moments). Money is also very imperative to victory, and a player with superior items will often win a 1-on-1 duel.
Feeding is just about the worst thing you can do (that is, dying a lot), so as a newb I would suggest that you avoid a situation you're not confident about. If an enemy hero goes in to attack you, the best thing you can do (unless you have an ally and/or the upper hand) is to simply retreat.
Again, this is coming from a newb, so I'm sure there are better ways to handle things, but this is what I've done so far and it has worked pretty well for me.

Spot on more or less...avoid feeding early game as much as possible.
I'm prolly done for the night. 1 am over here. Had 1 poor game with suttbecks, switched over to east and had 2 more games with the same crew in that demo and did really well.
Played as Abbadon and Bounty Hunter. Both were fun, especially with a 500 move speed as the BH and constant wind walking harrassment.

Chain stuns, blinks, and a nice ultimate make her great.
She's great for early game ganks too...it's almost guaranteed assuming your teammate is on top of his game.
He's such a beast.

When is the next game? Sunday evening sometime?
Here I come to save the day~
You hopping on now? Army of Darkness isn't on tonight so I'll actually play
ditto, lets get a full house game going tonight, I'll be on this evening PST, whichever realm works out best
Me and three others I play with now and then got on and in apem a pal of mine went sand king and I went bane elemental.
Let me just say - easiest double kill ever is the sleep + fiend grip / epicenter combo.
Here's the replay:

Lots of hilarious moments int hat one.
That's ridiculous. I can't believe you took 3 heroes without dying.

If people get really into this with me, i'll start to write up mini guides on how to play with graphs and pretty pictures.
