If gaming dollars are limited, it seems TF2 is the better deal, which is unfortunate. The objective gameplay of ET:QW is quite awesome, but the game just doesn't seem to evolve very far from its predecessors. It would be different if it were 3 months ago, but its not.

People keep saying this, but it doesn't make any sense. In terms of sales for the game, they did release it near several other shooters, yes, but that doesn't make it any worse. The game is still awesome, it actually does a LOT different from its predecessor, and it's an all around kick-ass game.

QW:ET available on Steam 10/9. So that at least raises the chance I'll get it eventually.

Yes, saying it's just simple capture the point is a little too simplistic for EQ. It's more like, you can only capture the flag while you're using THIS specific class that you may not be used to playing. It forces people to diversify, which is a good thing IMO. Also, it's also nice to not have the two sides being mirror images of each other. They claim they were the first but that's patently untrue (see: Savage and the upcoming Savage 2)

there is a problem with routers and the server browser. Until there is a fix, I recommend using this web browser that queries the master server: http://etqw.splatterladder.com/?mod=serverlist

not sure but it happened to me in the demo (I use linksys WRT54G). Basically you see almost no players and tons of empty servers. So I'd fire up the demo and find like 400 players on 1000+ servers when in actuality there were 3k+ people.

I tried playing the demo, but as soon as I try to enter a server it says I don't have punkbuster on.

I tried searching for punkbuster in the options, but I didn't see it anywhere

Look towards the top of the in-game server browser. It's just a simple checkbox.

Seppuku and I just played for a while. I think it's reasonable to say we kicked ass (except for when we didn't)

I <3 being a Medic. I think my favorite thing to do is to sprint around a corner, rez a dude, and sprint back. Like a ninja revive. It also feels good when some dude says "hey wow i didn't think anybody would revive me"

Yeah, I think soldier and medic are my two most-played class. Soldier when I need to kill vehicles, and Medic in any other situation. Well, technically, I play the Strogg Equivalent. Spawn hosts and switching ammo into health while running around a corner and then shooting the pursuer at full health = awesome.

I like being an engineer/constructor. It is extremely useful to be one too, especially on offense using turrets and anti-artillery to guard your spawns and such. Also proximity mines.

Damn, not a lot of Quake Wars love going on. I just picked it up today, joined a match, got team killed like eight times, had a few buildings respawn on top of me, and a bridge built over me. Otherwise, it's fun. If anyone wants to add me, my game name is Vacorsis.

This is clearly because everyone here is a communist.

We need to make a clan. What should it be called? I suggest IAE (I'm an Engineer!)

Unless you guys just wanna go with the default PA. But that's lame.

Overall, they're all pretty good. I'm playing a new rotation for me right now, but they're all pretty fun. I need more playtime to really be able to tell, though. I liked Valley, though, that's the only one I played before because I only got the demo.

Been a little pre-occupied past coupla days, but I did get a chance to play two of the new campaigns (I have no idea how many maps there are in total). Basically, they're all good. I especially liked the one that I think was a dam.

    Anyway, my nick is Nova_Collision

My most played class right now is Covert Ops, but back in W:ET I was an engineer almost all the time, so we'll see how it goes.

I have to say, I hated the beta. I hated the demo. And I hated the first two matches I played in the full version. But I kept going, and I kept trying to find a role that suited me. So I checked the score board and noticed my team only had one other medic in a full game. I tried the medic, and the game just clicked with me. I had so much fun running with my team and around the area reviving people and healing them, and scoring a few kills along the way.

It's just glorious once you find your role.

I'm pretty sure you only get battlesense XP every 45 seconds if you had actually DONE something in that time.

    Like it checks 5 categories

Category Earned by (within a 45 second period) Which earns you
Category 1 Taking damage only 0.25 points
Category 2 Dealing damage only 0.5 points
Category 3 Killing something but not taking damage 1 point
Category 4 Taking AND dealing .25 points
Category 5 Killing something AND taking damage 2.0 points

Oh man, I just had an awesome round. I decided to do something different and play an Infiltrator, and man, it's so much easier to be a covie in this game. I was getting backstabs all over the place. I think it really helps that the maps are bigger so it's possible to blend in at different times, rather than in Wolfenstein where it was so obvious that the guy running from the opposite side of the tiny map was a covie.

    Knife knife knife!

    Long story short, birthday.

Other than that, friend and review opinions. A lot of my friends picked it up and love it. I also figured better maps would redeem the game, as the problem I had with the beta and demo were the two maps showcased. And let me say, the other maps are great. It's kind of funny how the maps in the beta and demo are the worst of the bunch. I also haven't even gotten into a server that has played those two yet. I guess everyone was sick of Sewer and Valley.

does anybody still play it, is it worth it? I found the beta and demo pretty average but people keep telling me that the 1.2 patch makes the game awesome

It's just not for some people. I can see the points where people would love it, but it's just not what I, or you it seems, want in a game. Unlike some games that are just poorly designed or unfinished which I won't mention here there was nothing I could really put my finger on for ET:QW that I didn't like. I just wasn't having very much fun.
