Video to VGA (playing console games on my computer monitor)
Okay so i'd like to play my xbox/gamecube on my computers monitor seeing as the tv i have is a bit on the small side.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to go around doing this? What product to buy? Experiences with the same scenario? Cables or convertors? etc
Also, by doing this, will the picture quality of xbox/gamecube games that are played on my monitor be the same as ones that are played on my pc?
Thanks for any input.
edit: Forgot to mention, i live in the united kingdom, if that is even important..
The only way you're going to get something to look anywhere near as good as a PC game on your computer is to get a progressive scan converter like the VDigi thing. I have one, but you need component cables and the game has to be progressive scan (or 1080i, I havn't tried it yet though) to be viewable unless you have some amazing monitor that will display 480i signals.
For interlaced signals though, I have a box from Kramer that converts S-Video or composite to a progressive signal. It was about $90 which is high, but Kramer makes very solid high end equipment. There are more mainstream versions of composite/svideo -> vga converters aimed at console owners, but I don't have any reccomendations or prices.
I'm trying to do a simliar thing with the whole hooking a console up to a PC monitor, so I hope you don't mind me asking a question too, I didn't think it needed it's own thread.
I have a monitor with component video inputs, which is awesome cause yeah now I can run my console quite easily on it, only problem is I got no sound. Anyone got any solutions about what I can hook the audio cables into to get sound besides a TV? Is there some type of computer speakers I can hook into like that? Hopefully there is an easy answer to this that I'm overlooking.

you can buy an adapter that will convert the 2 composite audio imputs into a 3.5mm jack to plug into speakers.

Radioshack would probably be the best place to find something like that, yes.
