If I remember right, the into to Metroid Fusion had Samus wrangling asteroids and providing security but the bulk of the game is, as always, about her fighting for her life while running from floating jellyfish, not collecting big bucks. It's like she wants to be a bounty hunter, she needs to pay the rent, but everytime she tries to do her job, there are massive explosions and monsters and there's no one left alive at the end to pay her for escaping by the seam of her metal pants. It's like a thousand black cats crossed her path simultaneously.
Even those googly-eyed wasp men at the end of Echoes didn't pay Samus for collecting all those artifacts - they just waved thanks as she flew away. I wish lawyers accepted warm thanks as payment.
Actually, all the missions she's on are paid for by the Galactic Federation. In Metroid she had to go destroy the Metroids and the Space Pirate leader Mother Brain, and was this was a contract put out by the GF. In Metroid II, she had to destroy all the Metroids, again, for the GF. Prime 1 was her being sent to investigate a distress call, this one I'm not so sure about, I forget if she was sent by the GF or not. Anyway, in Echoes, she was investigating the missing GF troops sent there to fight some Space Pirates. Super Metroid, she's recovering the last Metroid, it's not explicit that she's being paid by the GF, but I think it wouldn't make any sense if she wasn't. In Fusion, being supplied with GF technology, I think it's clear that at least initially she was supposed to be funded by the GF, but that sort of falls apart. Even in Hunters, the GF sends her to investigate the ultimate power bit.
So yeah I do think it makes sense that she's a bounty hunter. Of some sort.
Man who needs a controller at all when you've got... POWER.
Cue someone writing a 5-page treatsie on how the Wii needs the PowerGlove... and how it's the ONLY cotnroller one should play Super Metroid with!
Way back someone expressed their desire for a 2D DS Metroid... and I heartily agree with them! (Whoever they are.)
It'd allow for scanning and reading (like in MP) and of course you could the extra screen to display the map and/or select weapons... I found the mini-map in MP to be incredibly helpful... and damn anyone who said it made the game too easy!
So, is Super Metroid ever going to be available to buy on the Wii? (On the onlien shop thingy... which I cannot remmeber what it's called.)
I keep expecting Super Metroid (any of the predecessors really) to be announced for the virtual console; you'd think Nintendo would release it soon to build hype for MPC, but then these things aren't always based on logic

Try Metroid 1 first. Then Super Metroid when a new DS one or Wii Hunters hits in a year or two. *maniacal laughter*
Also, I don't have much trouble holding the wiimote. My TV's kind of abnormally higher than the couch than most people's setups, sensor bar on top, I just aim up at the TV with my arms on my lap. I might raise them or sit up if something really crazy is going on but yeah.
This is kinda bad for games that sorta require you to stand, like wario ware blows when you hit a game with an invisible cursor that needs to detect the position onscreen. Like that hand balance one.

You guys have got to see IGN's new hi res gameplay videos of Metroid Prime 3. They are ridiculously gorgeous for a Wii game.

The only game I think they've done that for was Ninja Turtles, and that was a week after the movie came out. As a rule, they seem to be avoiding that route, possibly out of fear of cannibalizing sales.
Also, I'm glad to hear the voice actors pronouncing "Samus" correctly.
How do you pronounce "Samus" correctly?
Sam (as in uncle sam)
Us (as in us)
Samus
Watch the "Samus in Her Ship" video if you want to hear it. You should watch it anyways because it's badass.
I always pronounced the SA as "Sam" too but the MUS as "moose", since that would be the same japanese pronounciation it should be the correct one. No, I'm not a japanese nut, its pronounced the same in spanish and thats why I pronounce it like that :P.
The ship section is really, really awesome except for my little nitpick: Samus suitless model, it looks horrible, the ridiculously long eyelashes and ponytail look so cartoony, and those eyes are not the beautifully detailed eyes you see in the reflection of the visor, thank goodness it only lasted a few seconds, but it detracted from the whole thing.

Well I, for one, found one huge game-breaking flaw:
Why does Samus use her left hand to press buttons on her right? O_o

Lets see you try to push buttons with a friggin' cannon.
I think I must be one of the few who don't really see a point in multiplayer metroid.
You're not alone.
I would be ecstatic if it had good multiplayer, but I'm not sad that it doesn't. Hunters is the only Metroid game that would be ruined without multiplayer.

Hunters was essentially a multiplayer Metroid game with a single player mode tacked on.

Isn't there a rumor that at least one hunter from MP:H will be appearing in Prime 3? That Rundus fellow looks to be of a similar species to Noxus.
Personally I am hoping to see Sylux and Weavel in Prime 3. Sylux because, well, we don't know why he/she is out to get Samus but I want to know why. And a battle between Samus and Weavel would be pretty badass. I can just imagine a huge group of Pirates cornering Samus, about to fire, when a voice calls out, the Pirates stand down and make way for Weavel to come through and challenge Samus to a face off.
ive never liked how the suit materializes out of thin air, i understand its made from the most advanced technology in the universe, but man, a batman-esque "suit up" sequence would be awesome.

Nintendo Now: There was a character who comes to your aid in the demo that was reminiscent of Noxus from Metroid Prime Hunters for the Nintendo DS. Any relation?
Bryan Walker: His name is Rundus.
Mark Pacini: It’s definitely a different bounty hunter in Metroid Prime 3. The same concept artist from Metroid Prime Hunters also worked on Metroid Prime 1, Prime 2, and Prime 3. So maybe there is an intentional style similarity to tie it in, and maybe some backstory on it.

I forgot to mention, I bet that the "new suit" is the result of Phazon corrution. It looks like the gray parts are smalle than what she normally has equipped (ie shoulders and chest). And you can see that two of her fingers still have orange armor in one of the shots.

Having it be made out of some weird solidified energy would make sense, especially considering the morph ball form and the suit's ability to integrate new technology without changing its overal structure.
Had anyone linked the developer walkthrough yet? It's damn cool, and I am glad to see the return morph ball jumping (ie not needing to use a bomb to do the initial jump). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9wAiZq4lu8
Found a video of all the versions of suitless Samus throughout the Metroid games
I think we can all agree that Echoes is the only one that's really hideous

After the success of Fusion and Zero Mission, Retro decided to (or was instructed to, no one knows) use the same design that appears in those games.
For some reason or another though, they didn't decide to make her look like she wasn't a cartoon. Perhaps they were instructed that as well. Also the model they constructed was horrendous.
Prime 1's Samus is my favorite.
Though Brawl's ZS-Samus is sexy. That's how she should look in Prime if they are going to use that design.
IMHO they shouldn't show her face directly in Prime at all. But since they did they should at least have made it fit the theme of the game rather than being so cartoony. Her face looks better in Brawl.

i think they forced retro to change it because of the success of Fusion in Japan, and its more anime design, but i may be wrong.
