But can you turn them on/off as you need or want to? Because I generally had Ice Beam off when I didn't need it. Because it just added another hit to those goddamned annoyances.
I'm not as interested in Galaxy, personally. I'll almost certainly buy it and love it, but I'm not looking forward to it like I am with Prime 3 and Brawl.
Prime 3's definitely numbero uno for me. I don't like Smash Bros and the recent Mario games make me hold back a bit on getting too excited for Galaxy. August 20 is so far yet so close!
I will be lovin' me some SSBB and Corruption, but seriously ... it's been so long since I have platformed at a level of quality that can only be achieved by Mario, and isn't platforming what everything is really about?
So anyone see the play screens? Someone put up one on Neogaf, and it's a comparison shot from old to now (basically same shot, but it shows the newer one).
The graphical update was bigger than I thought it'd be.
that single line, "will revolutionize FPS controls" has single handedly rekindled my interest for this game. When I heard multiplayer wouldn't be online, I was crushed. But if it's that fucking awesome, I cannot wait.

Do share, please.
I would, but isn't that aginst the rules?
I mean, the pic is from the magazine after all.
Uh, those first screenshots in the OP are magazine scans.
Just, like, don't scan the whole article and I think you're ok.
So I haven't played any Metroid games, I want to play this when it's out. I have at my disposal:
1 x Gameboy
1 x SNES
1 x Wii
1 x Metroid Prime #1 (Unplayed)
1 x Metroid Prime #2 (Unplayed)
Tell me what I am best playing before MP3 to get the gist of things. I really really want to play one of the 2d ones to get the feel (preferably SNES).

Well, the prime series takes place between metroid 1 and 2, so if you want to get up to speed for mp3, you'd play metroid, then prime 1 and 2.
But fuck that noise. I assume by gameboy you mean GBA? Play Super Metroid, then Metroid Zero Mission, then Metroid Fusion. then play them over and over and over again, as I've done.
Metroid is fucking FANTASTIC. 3D metroid is good, 2D metroid is some of the best fucking gaming you can get. It's near perfection, with Super Metroid being the crown jewel of it's fabulous empire.
Heh, actually I meant an old grey beaten up gameboy. But I do actually have a GBA somewhere, annoyingly the screen is slightly damaged and has a thin line across the top which takes longer to update than anything else. It's playable though. In actual fact, I'll just yoink my gf's new DS when she's visiting and get my metroid on then
I'll see what's available at my local gamestation at lunch.

Seconded on Super Metroid especially since Corruption is going to be using a beam stacking system.

I heartily agree. Super Metroid is so good that it shouldn't exist.

Okay, so I'm jumpng into this thread a little late.
If they make a remake of Metroid II, they DO NOT need a map.
Why? Because each area of SR-388 was color coded... the problem with this.... WAS 4-shades of Grey...
Simply giving each area its own distinct textures, just like SNES' Brinstar vs Norfair vs Crateria, would be more than enough.
If they do add a map to it, I expect a fully fleshed out addition to the game, ala Zero Mission, maybe even somethign involving the x-parasites from Fusion.

Here it is, at the end of the video. It's just pure speculation on my part so I could be totally wrong.
Then good news! MP:3 has stacking beams.
'Cuz I think I just heard someone say best game on the Wii.
(In case you were wondering, that was me.)
And Galaxy... And the inevitable Zelda designed specifically for the Wii.
And of course Wii Zelda will probably shatter my conception of what a great game is in it's extreme awesomeness.

(Does it look like the queen alien from Aliens to anyone else?)
They added a crown though.
I'm sure that uses more megahurtz.

How come you're not TheSamusRetard or some such?
Or beat that final boss in MP.
Maybe I'll try that tonight.
