The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
So the forum is going down a lot with 504/502 errors
New York City -- got something a bunch of times this afternoon, but I wasn't checking to see what it was. Mostly just blamed it on my wireless router. I guess I owe it an apology.
I looked into it.
We are averaging a lot of users right now but it shouldn't be bad. I'm going to have Ramius look at things on his end before I go spelunking through our configuration files.

The errors that sparked this thread happened right around 2pm (West Coast, USA), yesterday. I can see it in our google analytics graphs, because the pageviews drop off by about 20% from what they should be for that hour.
That also happens to be the tail-end of our busiest period of the day. Our traffic climbs steadily from 3am (about 7,700 pageviews) until 12pm or 1pm (about 24,000 pageviews), then declines until 6 or 7pm, bumps up again for 2-3 hours, then declines steadily until 3am.
If you see errors again during the 11:30am to 2:30pm peak, please report them again even if you already reported them yesterday.

It's GMT +1.
And I'd like to add that it happens quite often to me that the forums don't work for a minute or so.

strangely, I've been more-or-less "on the forums" over the last 2 hours and had no problems whatsoever. So whatever it is, is not affecting everyone equally it would seem.

Could it be router congestion down the line or something?
Maybe it would help if everyone with the problem listed their ISP too. :P

I'm in Oklahoma, which is smack dab in the middle, so it's not West Coast exclusive.
We're all-coast, baby.
.. yeah, UK errors here too.

We've picked up a bit in our post volume, on account of the Whining forum, but that was mostly last week.
