I'm picking up my Boyfriend at the airport on the 30th and I was wondering if one is allowed to wait right at their terminal for them to get off, or do you have to wait outside the security check area...?
I would really like to be right there when he gets off the plane, and would like to wait with him while he gets his bag, but I'm not sure if that's allowed. I haven't picked anyone up at an airport before.
I've been travelling a lot by aeroplane for the first time recently and it's really irked me that there's no good website about exactly what the hell you have to do at an airport.
As others have implied, airports are split into two: landside and airside. They're separated by passport control and all that jazz, so you won't be able to get through to airside to see him get off the plane. The baggage area -which is usually landside - is nearly always the first place passengers get funnelled to when they get off the plane, so you can meet him there.
Yeah, you can meet him at baggage claim, or you can meet him as he walks out of the terminal (people are usually funnelled to the same place), but you can't meet him at the terminal.
