Actually, I can't get recruited, I have Tourettes Syndrome. It's still scary when some Army dude asks for my phone number and house address.

I don't have the Tourettes Syndrome excuse, so if they asked me, I would tell them I am already a part of the OSI (Office of Secret Intelligence). What I do for them is of course classified and so is my name.

Heh, I had a Navy recruiter calling me non-stop for a while back in high school. Finally one day this part of the conversation happened:

Navy Recruiter: So do you have any questions for me?
    Me: Yeah...
NR: Well, I'd love to answer and settle any concerns you may have about a career with the Navy.
Me: My boyfriend says that I have to know how to swim, is that true?
NR: ...uh, yes it is. If you have any more questions, feel free to let me know at 555-5555
    Me: Hey, thanks!
NR: You have a good day sir.
    *click*

    Never heard from him again.

    Doesnt work all the time.

They would constantly hound a lot of people and not take no for an answer. Lots of friends would get weekly calls from them for an entire year.
It was fun fucking with them though :D

Military recruiters are no more annoying than anyone else that has a quota to fill... like those annoying independant cell phone kiosks in malls... i hate them so much. I always just tell those guys I work for a cellphone company... they'll leave ya alone right away then.

I dunno, maybe I have an easier time dealing with them because I used to live with an ex-Army Combat Medic. I got all my military info from him, including all the truths behind what the recruiters tell you (or most of them anyway). I can have a pretty good conversation with somebody in the military, and if they do try to recruit me, I can usually work my way away from the subject without appearing rude or condescending.

That's just what they do, alot of folks that do enlist say no the first time. Then they find out about signing bonus, Gi Bil etc and reconsider. Its kinda funny how fast 20G's can change someone mind about enlisting.

If you tell them your not interested they will ask you why and try to change your mind or clear up any misconceptions you may have. But If you tell them no thanks not my thing they will leave you alone. Although I still laughed every time the Navy sent me recruitment info after I enlisted for the army.

But then you still need to ask yourself why you went to the booth in the first place :)

Actually, and they may tell you this, if you're from a foreign country and you join the Armed forces to gain citizenship, you also gain citizenship for your immediate family too. It's not a bad deal for people who really want citizenship, at least not during peacetime anyway.

I think we should try to focus on the topic of this thread before it is too late.

Is no one interested in that 300 page Capcom art book I mentioned (post 22)? I am not a Street Fighter player but I think it looks pimp.
That is the only reason I am going to the Udon booth. I hope I can leaf through it before I buy it.

Guys dont worry about the army booth. They were there last year and it should be the same size. They had a giant hummer and were tossing free swag out to everyone. They probably had some of the most free stuff besides nvidia. They were promoting a army game that came out and were handing out free copies.

I dont think you will have a problem with them trying to recruit you only through the video game ;)
