On the Anticipation ability, does that apply only to the type of opposing Pokemon, or does it actually hint out the type of moves it's going to have to contend with?
It tells you if the opponent knows a move that would be Super-Effective against your guy.
I think my initial reaction to Toxicroak was correct in thinking it could be a very good one to have in my party.
I really dislike giving people good advice when they can use it against me...
But Dry Skin is really, really good. A lot better than Anticipation. Seriously.
You get healed by Water attacks. You can switch him in on a Water attack, and take no damage.
I guess Anticipation is okay, but most of the time, you know (or should know) what is packing an Earthquake or Psychic or a Flying attack (Toxicroak's only real BIG weaknesses).
Ethel Rosenberg was no confirmed spy, you take that bag fool.
Double-checking, I was surprised to find out that you were actually right about this. According to Wikipedia, Project VENONA more or less confirms that Julius Rosenberg was the Soviet spy codenamed "LIBERAL," whereas it actually seems to vindicate Ethel--mentioning that "LIBERAL's wife doesn't work." She was a member of the Communist Party, but nothing else.
I'm still gonna go with Rosenberg for the name, though. She was a Communist, she was married to a very important spy, most people considered and still consider her a spy, most people won't notice that my Pokemon named "Rosenberg" is female, which means it's Ethel, not Julius, and even if they do notice, there's a decent chance that they either won't know to call me out on it, or they won't care enough.

If you're ever fighting someone on WiFi and they actually call you out on that in the middle of the battle, please try and record it. That'd have the potential to be one interesting (and a bit of a sad) conversation.

Oh, I know about Dry Skin as well - both Dry Skin and Anticipation are excellent abilities.

RedMage, you still around? I feel the need to fight someone.
Ah, and Fighting/Poison pokemon aren't really weak to that much. I assume that flying moves aren't that common on things that can't actually fly (I've seen Peck, but who the hell would use Peck in a serious match?). How common are Psychic attacks for pokemon without the Psychic type? I assume that anticipation might be good for spotting Earthquake, though, which could be useful.

Psychic attacks mostly appear on Psychics/Ghosts. A few things learn Zen Headbutt, but they're mostly things that you would expect a headbutt from (Tauros, Rampardos).
You should always assume that every attacker ever has Earthquake. Seriously. If they switch out against Toxicroak, and it's not a Flying or Psychic type... then it probably has Earthquake.
Ok, I have a bit of a puzzle here, and I'm hoping somebody could lend a hand.
I've decided want a Weavile. I've also decided I want Pursuit and Ice Punch on it. After looking over many move lists and pokemon, I realize I have to use Smeargle to get them both onto a Sneasel. So, I went and snagged me a Smeargle. And, once again, after looking over the lists, I discover that all the pokemon that can learn Ice Punch by level up... don't actually do. They're smegging Heart scale only moves.
So, the problem. Get Ice Punch onto a Smeargle for breeding purposes. Anybody have any idea how the heck I'd go about doing that?

Narian, I think I'm out of extras but I'll find somebody to make some more. I'm glad people are interested in it because it was not an easy thing to come by and the search is not the type of thing I'd care to repeat.
EDIT: I have three more copies on the way, that makes a total of 6 Tri Attack Togepi. Four or Five are claimed, counting Narian's.
I want to read about spies now.
I can breed Ice Punch Pursuit Sneasles I think. Just give me awhile.

Okay, that takes care of number five. If Shujin doesn't want one though that one will be open.
If any of you ever clone it yourselves, I wouldn't mind my own copy just to have one.
As to the team, I'm not much use for moves or anything and perhaps look at weaknesses and resistances more than I should but this:
Says you've got dual Electric, Grass, and Ground weaknesses. Something resistant to all of them might be good then right? I think a Grass Type would work.

Has anyone had any experience with Leafeon or Roserade? I was thinking of having one of them take up my empty slot.
I've heard good things about both of them. I personally kind of like Leafeon, though I'm not using one. I'm told it has rather a rather beefy attack stat.

Both are very good.
Leafeon is more Physical oriented, so would benefit from a Baton Pass'd Bulk Up. Unfortunately, you need to level it up to like OVER 9000 to get Leaf Blade.
Roserade is a good Special attacker.
Honestly, if I had to choose on that team, I'd go with Leafeon because of Bulk Up. He'll make an excellent Baton Pass recipient from Floatzel, since he resists Floatzel's Electric and Grass weaknesses.
Yeah, the only problem with this is... Hitmonchan don't exist in the wild. Putting me back at square one.
I've never had to work with Smeargle before, so I'm not sure the most efficient way of dealing with him. I'm just kinda annoyed because I spend a little bit trying to catch one with decent IV's for breeding stock and now I've kinda hit this wall.
I'm gonna try that double battle thing that was suggested. The move says last move used by a foe, but it's worth a shot. Getting the Ice punch to go off last is the trick, but that's easy to solve with items.
edit: Well, that's a no go. Last foe means last foe. How the smeg am I going to get this bloody move on it...

Yeah, the best way to deal with Smeargle is to go to the double battle just south of Solaceon, have your other guy use their move, and choose Sketch with Smeargle, targeting them.
Your guy will attack, then when Smeargle uses Sketch, he'll copy the move.

Actually, you can catch wild tyrogues (the hitmon family's baby form) by using the pokeradar in the tall grass west of Hearthome.

See, the thing is, that does me no good. I need a wild pokemon (or trainer battle) to use the move. All the possible pokemon either will never know it in the wild (because it's a heart scale move), or are not available in the wild. So unless you can magically make that Tyrogue level up and evolve during the fight, it doesn't work.

No, you catch the tyrogue and level it up into a hitmonchan, level it up to get the elemental punches, and then use that for breeding. That's how I got my ice punch weavile.
You have to use bunneary as an in-betweener to get the move from hitmonchan to sneasel though.

I'm still screwed though. I want one with both Ice punch AND Pursuit. No pokemon capable of breeding with Sneasel can learn both of those moves for breeding except Smeargle. Hence my dilemma.
But, it seems I have hope now. Problem solved. Sorry for the confusion and whining peeps.

I have a bunch of fossils with them, but the damned thing looks like a Pokegimp. I'm not having that on my team. If you have Pearl just go dig underground, you'll find one within 15 minutes of digging.
Aw, c'mon, it's cute, and Bastod(i?)on is badass. Anyhow -- Diamond here, and I guess it's one of the exclusives. Do you think we could arrange a trade? I haven't found any fossils underground and I don't have much of interest, but I do have a male Turtwig (lv1) and I can find the simpler Diamond exclusives like Stunky and Murkrow.
I'd gladly help, but my situation today requires me to jump around a lot, so timing'd be tricky. Send me a PM and we'll arrange something? I don't really need anything in trade, already got all 3 starters, Murkrow and the Diamond fossil, just give me whatever.
No, you get one too, it's not too hard to find someone to clone it. I will start trading them this afternoon and ten I'll know for sure if I need to get one more or not.
