Ahhhhhhh there's a nos nerf mentioned in a devblog and I don't understand it. Good thing I don't use nos very much. http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=489

It means a domi can't nos-rape you right from the start of a fight until it starts losing cap itself. Nossers will need to keep a close watch on their cap if they want to drain you. Can't just nos + cap inject and laugh all day long.

You (100% Cap) vs Domi (100% Cap) = Domi can't nos you.
You (100% Cap) vs Domi (50% Cap) = Domi can nos you down to 50% of your total cap
You (20% Cap) vs Domi (80% Cap) = Domi can't nos you until you have more cap than it.

So they can only NOS as long as their cap isn't full? Haha! Fuck nossers!

EDIT: Wait, it's even better than that, they can only NOS you if their cap is lower than yours! I need to fit something that just drains a ridiculous amount of cap from my Drake - I don't need it anyway Lolz! Time for shield boosters, I think

Domis aren't going to be changed too much because they'll just run the 2x reps. Curse/pilgrim might fit neuts now people are saying. Who knows.

If they do stick with Nos, it'll make Drakes a lot more powerful as tankers because now they can probably fit an active tank without fear of getting it nosed to shit. So long as you can make it cap stable at something reasonably low like 20% then you should be a lot safer from Nos and have a much higher resist tank than you would with passives. Or they can just stick to a passive tank but fit a shield booster instead of the Invuln field or something and just be all like 'so what?' when they get nosed.

Not quite; this line is the catch:
It is, however, still possible to use Nosferatus to drain a target if one is willing to sacrifice ones own energy to do so.

This works because it actually costs cap to activate/run a nos, so if I keep mine running it will drag you down as it drags me down, albeit much more slowly.

It's a huge boost to speed ships as well as blaster boats (they're never cap-stable anyway), so I'm pretty happy, as I rarely fly Domi's anymore. Could suck for ratters who use nos to keep their tanks running, though.

I'm wondering if the same rules will apply to rats, though. For PvE Nos isn't really overpowered, and Nos on rats already works completely differently, so it's tossup as to how that side of the game will be affected

That could get confusing. If a Merlin was Nosing my Drake and our caps were both draining at the same amount (the merlin due to the cost of running the Nos, the Drake due to being Nosed), then the Merlin would likely quickly end up with less percentage of cap than the Drake (because running cost and neutralising values are fixed values rather than percentages). As such, it would then switch to transferring cap instead of just neutralising it, but then the Merlin's cap would quickly refill again and ohgod!

Your buddy needs to 1) be a PA member and 2) mention it (and what his PA name is) in the app. If he's not, they'll just reject it again.

We were members of Merch before. We left the corp for a while, then ended up quitting the game. (He moved and the game just wasnt as fun without RL friends to play with) we decided to start playing again and it was my idea to rejoin Merch because it was laid back and the people were cool. He hadnt been in the Corp long before we left but i had been a member for a few months, hell rath and them practically taught me how to play the game.

If Merch really doesnt want us, thats ok...but i just want to give it our best before giving up. I been reading this thread and stuff and its like... i remember alot of the names when we were all just newbies slapping mining lasers on our ships and its cool seeing how far everyone has gotten since i been gone. (Kinda makes me feel like a slacker too)

As i said earlier, i just hope we get a chance to show we can be an asset to the corp and are worth having around.

The Nos nerf is a not-so-subtle Amarr boost (except for the Curse and the Pilgrim, but the Curse needed a nerf, if it has been nerfed - maybe more will just use neutralizers and take a midslot for a cap recharger now).

If the end result is more shield tankers, that's a subtle Amarr boost but maybe a more far-reaching one.

I think this will be the most nerfed ship, since it always operated at 100% cap pretty much.

Instead you turn on the neut for a cycle for about the same effect. You get to keep most of your cap and they still have none.

Edit: I just knew Goum would come along and correct me on that. Module discussion, our own little Goum-signal.

Yea, but neuts are harder to fit dont help you as much against similarly sized ships and cycle every 24 seconds, which is enough for the inty to just use a cap booster after he gets neuted. And if the inty is using NOS his will cycle and nos you to keep him up.

Yeah, this nos change is rather elegant and effective, in my opinion. I have to give a nod to whoever came up with it -- amusingly, it was a player (Sarmaul, of 0utbreak), not a dev. That figures.

No, it wasnt. Sarmaul came up with turning the khanid ships back into missile boats. And produced a bunch of ships much shittier than the ones the devs implemented.[seriously, they are fucking split weapon with laser cap use bonuses]

What? Sarmaul came up with Khanid Mk II, not the nos change, and hasn't been in Outbreak for months

Also, it sucks. I would have been fine with the proposed idea of nos amount being based on sig size (holy shit, useful target painters!), but this "fix" is mildly retarded. It was hard enough to kill speed setups before without a Huggin, now it's even worse :?

It isn't laser cap use. It's shortened cap recycling in general. Or that's what the descriptions on Sisi say. Since missiles don't use cap, expect permarepping and mwd'ing.

If the cap recharge boost to these ships is significant, these are the perfect ships against which to use nosferatus. Everybody wins!

Edit: I really like this bonus for the Damnation, not that I can fly one. With good cap recharge it can run the gang assist modules (that it can't fit) for a significantly longer time.
