Yes, it is. But I can't figure out for my life what it's from.

It's from the opening to Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' On Heaven's Door.

    (AKA "Cowboy Bebop The Movie")

It's basically a montage of really-realistically drawn people set to Ask DNA, which is a pretty nifty song.

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=mFQ8ftCLris

And now I got to throw in the movie OST to listen to. Because Yoko Kanno is god.

I need to watch Cowboy Bebop.

It is pretty much one of the best anime series ever.

Even people who don't like anime like it.

And the soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks for any show ever.

The Cowboy Bebop movie was better than 98% of the actual series.

The opening to the actual series.

It's actually from the first episode, with a bit of flashback before the actual intro.

It's not that the movie was bad, I think people hate it because it is a COMPLETELY different tone than the show. It is like night and fucking day comparing the two.

Me? I hate it because it's different, AND it's a piece of crap.

I'm sure it's a good movie and well made. The plot just pisses me off. You don't have Leonidas survive Thermopylae, you don't bring back Ben Kenobi, and you don't undo the ending of Cowboy Bebop D:

EDIT: just to be clear, I heard that this is part of the movie's plot:
That the end of the series was a dream, which Spike wakes up from, and the whole Vicious/Julia thing didn't actually happen

When did they undo the ending of Cowboy Bebop? What?

I took it as just taking place between episodes or something. As in before Bebop ended.

What are you talking about, Willis?

The movie was NOT set after the series. It was set sometime in during the series. It's just a separate plot line.

There are four soundtracks for Cowboy Bebop:

    Cowboy Bebop
    No Disc
    Blue
    Vitaminless

Then there is the movie OST, which came in 1 and 2-CD flavors, the 2-CD one having some extra songs from the series and movie on it (including Ask DNA).

Then there was an incredibly expensive 5-CD boxset released with a shitload of alternate takes and unreleased songs from the series, and a live performance of a bunch of the songs.

I have bootleg copies of them all and have been slowly but surely tracking down the official released CDs.

Just to be clear, I heard that this is part of the movie's plot:
That the end of the series was a dream, which Spike wakes up from, and the whole Vicious/Julia thing didn't actually happen

It is officially stated that the film takes place between episode 22 and 23.

I have the limited edition boxset as well, and it's nice.

I just wish they'd put the "Remix" version out in a thinpak set so I could pick up the 5.1 version cheap.

    What? No no no.

There's some ranting about dreams and the real world but it's all some dude completely other than Spike doing it. And it's just weird as hell philosophical ranting and not relevant to the plot at all.

So you haven't actually seen the movie then?

No no, it takes place between episodes 22 and 23 I believe.

It doesn't change anything that happened before or after it. It's pretty much them going after a single, extraordinary bounty but not getting anything for it, and they just continue on as usual for it.
