So, i'm starting to hit the wall of games i've played to death, recommend me some games people.. STAT!
To give everyone an idea of what kind of games i'm into (lots) here are the games I either own or have played.
Nintendo DS:
Final Fantasy 3
Super Mario 64
Mario Kart
New Super Mario Bros
Wii:
Zelda TP
Wii Sports
Sonic (not played this much)
Rayman Raving Rabbids
PC: (takes a breath)
Oblivion + All Addons
Civ 2, Test of time, Civ 3 & PTW, Civ 4 & Warlords
Battlefield 2 + All addons (tried 2142, got BF Vietnam but I never really got into it)
Entire C&C series
GTA 3, Vice City & San Andreas
Black & White 1 & 2
Operation Flashpoint + Armed Assault
Half-Life series
FEAR
SW Kotor 1 & 2
Galactic Civilisations 2
Morrowind plus all addons (i've not played this really yet, I bought it after I got Oblivion.. the learning curve on this seems vertical)
Quake 1 - 4
Starcraft
Homeworld 1 + Cataclysm & 2
Unreal Tournament
X Beyond the Frontier, X2 and X3
Freespace 2
Thief
There are probably loads i've forgotten, especially pc ones.. I have a lot of games in a box.. pc, ps1, ps2 etc.
But in general those are probably the most played (pc). As you can see, I have a lot more pc games than consoles, mostly because in general I play on my pc more than consoles. (although of recent i've been playing FF3 like mad)
I'd like to buy some Wii games, i've not really seen any rpgs stand out to me for it for example.
EDIT: Added games to the list of owned/played that I had forgotten about.

PC: Vampire: Bloodlines. And Alpha Centauri can easily drain a few weeks worth of time(assuming it can still be found).
I own Alpha Centauri, also played to death.
Vampire Bloodlines looks interesting, is it a kind of rpg'ish game? (looking at the gamespot review now)
I've heard of Etrian Odyssey, looked interesting. I'm half and half on punishing difficulty, at the very start of a game I don't like it.. once i've gotten used to the game mechanics then I kind of prefer the difficulty as long as I can level up to godlike proportions.

I've been playing with the idea of grabbing the Zelda games on virtual console plus picking up the gamecube zelda games.
Also, Beyond Good and Evil pc version.. played to death. (great game though)

Well, EO's as tough as your levels are, usually, but there's lots of dungeon crawling and customization involved.
And occasionally, bosses that are way beyond your comprehension halfway through a map that you have to avoid.
Vampire's a first/third person action RPG, sort of. Pick one of six clans, and survive the madness of undead L.A. .
Multiple paths/abilities, and lots of conversation options. I think the story differs from clan to clan, too(especially Malkavian[the lunatics]).
So all the monsters etc level up with you in EO somewhat akin to Oblivion?
Also, Bloodlines is going for £7.50 on Amazon.. that's pretty tempting.. game looks good, how is it for depth? Is it basic side missions and the main bit which has all the good stuff?
EDIT: Also, a couple of games I forgot to add to the list.. System Shock 2 and Deus Ex, I've got them people.. so don't bother recommending them. (but please recommend games like them)

You should really look into getting into the World in Conflict open beta. The game is the most action packed RTS I've ever played (not to mention the best looking).
I played Max Payne 1, it was good for a bit.. but it just seemed really, really samey.. I never played MP2.
I've not got Unreal 2k4 (nor played), I gave serious sam a try.. whilst it did remind me somewhat of the doom days it just seemed essentially one area after another with monsters in places to appear.
Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay was pure awesome. I just loved the neck snapping action. (or was it shanking in the neck? I forget, not played this since sometime last year)
EDIT: Holy cow, World in Conflict looks good.

Wii - You seem to enjoy shooters, so I highly recommend RE4. I haven't played any of the previous versions, but this one is absolutely awesome. At $30 (or $20 in my case) it's a bargain. Also, Godfather: Blackhand Edition is really fun as well. It's a GTA clone, but the waggle controls work real well and add a lot to the design imo. I love throwing people from the tops of buildings.
DS - Can't go wrong with Tetris DS if you're into puzzle games. Yoshi's Island DS is another great platformer (from what I hear). I bought it during the recent Toys R Us sale, but haven't broken into it yet. Looks awesome though. Either of the Castlevanias are good choices as well. Etrian Odyssey looks great, but I can't find the damn thing anywhere. DQH: Rocket Slime looks like a great RPGish game as well. Bought that during the sale as well, but haven't broken into it yet either. Not that I don't want to, but my DS backlog is pretty crazy and Pokemon Pearl (another fine title) has been sucking my time.
I'm half and half on first person shooters on consoles, my hands tend to cramp up (damn you Halo).. however, since on the Wii they'll use the wiimote I am kind of curious. I had Red Steel, however its control scheme sucked. (I sold it)
How does RE4 play control scheme wise? Is it fairly intuitive?
I'll check out the DS recommendations, see if I can get to play them before I go buying.

All kinds of side missions. The more you do, the more XP you get to customize your character's stats with. And the main story has like four or five different resolutions, depending on who you side with(Camarilla, Anarchs, Kuei-Jin, nobody, etc.).
EO's monsters are at a fixed level, but you'll frequently run into ones that are much stronger than anything else on that level of the dungeon called FOEs. If you see a red or black colored one(they're normally orange), they're even deadlier. Sometimes even the orange ones are too much for your party on some levels.
-Blood Omen: Legacy Of Kain (PS1, PC)
-Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver (PS1, Dreamcast, PC)
-Soul Reaver 2 (PS2, PC)
-Blood Omen 2 (PS2, GC, XBox, PC)
-Legacy Of Kain: Defiance (PS2, XBox, PC)
As you can see, they're all available for the PC, but the PC version of Blood Omen 1 in particular is extremely hard to find. If you have a PS2, it should be much easier to get the Playstation versions of the games (they released a double-pack of BO1 and SR1 that still seems to be quite common on eBay and the likes).
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is definitely worth a try and you'll have the advantage of being a few patches in now, you'll have to pick it up on a store though and I notice you haven't put down Company of Heroes, which is worth checking out if you're an RTS fan.
Also get Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, Super Paper Mario, any of the Final Fantasy games on GBA and any handheld Castlevania game. There are several other games, but those are off the top of my head.

Okay, and also, I'd definately say Dawn of War. Fun ass game, especially when you join into the game on threads we have around here. Epic lore that's fun to get into, but if you do not you will be treated to a totally unique universe. My friend knows nothing of the Emporer but likes how the Space Marines roll where it's kill and burn everything that posses any remote threat. Be sure to pick up all Expansion packs or get a combo packs.
Also, any word on MMO's? Probably not your style but you do have some time killers up there, like Oblivion. I would say maybe looking into a few. I'd personally wait for WAR, ;-)
EDIT: Also! Psychonauts! If you can find it, it's definately worth it. I beat it relatively quickly but I cannot believe I missed out on it for so long. It's an extremly polished product and it runs great on my computer. It's not graphically intensive, and actually is quite enjoyable. It's also got a lot of collectables if you like to do that stuff but it doesn't get too old or boring like some games, like Oblivion. It's also only $10.
Rise of Nations is on sale at EB/Gamestop for $5 now so you pretty much can't go wrong on that title. Overlord just came out and I've heard a lot of positive things about it here. Geometry Wars was released on Steam for almost nothing too.
Go to planet morrowind and download everything you can for Morrowind. DAmmit, I just posted about going into Civ 4 again and now you have me thinking about morrowind. DammiT!

He's really not prone to "new ideas". I would love to get him in to it, though. From there I may be able to open him up... It's always fun to have someone to play stuff with...
He's tearing in to FF3. But something with a touch more story would set him over the edge.
Suggestions?
Phoenix Wright. Immediately.
RE4's controls are amazing on the Wii. It isn't an FPS, though. It's a third person that switches to an over the shoulder view when aiming. All the aiming is done with the Wiimote (except for scoped weapons which use the analog stick), while the analog stick moves your field of view while aiming. Movement is conducted with the stick (can't run n gun). Down on the stick and Z do a 180 turn, swinging the remote does a quick knife attack (C + swing does a stronger one). They sound a little confusing while trying to describe them, but they're really not that complicated and become second nature really quickly. Rent it if you're unsure, but I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised.
Erm... Adventure-esque games may be a stretch for him. I should clarify.. I gave a bad explanation. He generally plays Final Fantasy, GTA, etc... games. He scoffs at Pokemon, "child's play".

Why are you typing this and not making him play Phoenix Wright?
I'm sorry, but if I have to slow motion dive one more time.
I hope I can even PLAY Stranglehold...
