Wind Waker for the Wii.

From Kotaku,

In this month's Nintendo Power, there's an interview with Eiji Aonuma, in which he gets chatty about Zelda. One thing that's got me interested is he mentions he'd love to do a remake of Wind Waker on the Wii. Course, he's just wishing out loud, and something like this would probably never actually come to pass, but just in case it DOES (Res 4 setting somewhat of a precedent), yes Nintendo, a 16:9, polished-up, waggle-enhanced version of Wind Waker would be great. Oh, at a budget price, too. Thanks.

Why doesn't Nintendo make a totally new Zelda for the Wii?
This porting/taped on waggle shit really should stop. Damn.

Still, would you Wii owners commit to buying this game (if the idea ever did reach fruition)?

Uh, Aonuma even says in the article that it would probably never happen. Its just something he would like to do.

And actually, that sounds pretty cool. Controlling the wind waker with the wiimote? Yes please.

    Eh.

I still haven't been motivated to play TP on the Wii. I haven't tried out the Wii control scheme, but I just can't see it adding anything I particularly want.

Now if the remake were to correct a few things (weren't there several dungeons cut out entirely?) then oh yes.

Well, TP's Wii aiming was fantastic (sword was neutral), but I just wouldn't buy this out of principle. The porting has got to stop.

edit: but of course, it's not happening. This is non-news.

I'm not really interested in a waggle version of the game. For the most part, TP (I have the Wii version) controls just as well as WW, so I don't really have a preference. So I probably wouldn't buy it again for motion control.

But if they added the cut dungeons, I'd buy two.

I would be right along with everyone in saying that this porting nonsense needs to quit.

But damn if that Deku Leaf minigame in WarioWare wasn't one of the greatest things ever.

Now that I think about it, him wishing for this kind of makes sense.

Good point, I hadn't thought about that. Still, I'm sure he'd like WW to see that kind of success.

I've heard that WW had cut dungeons. I think in the original concept you'd get the iron boots and the power braclet from actual dungeons instead of those fire and ice islands.

I think it'd be neat to have a Wind Waker with sharpened graphics, the extra dungeons added, and the triforce hunt redone. Wishful thinking, of course.

Prince of Persia. Far Cry. Other games have had new releases with arguably, waggle just tacked on, such as Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Oh right, PoP. That sucked. But Far Cry, that wasn't a port of anything, was it? That was just a new game based on the Far Cry engine. And Marvel UA isn't a port. It's a shitty game, but it was designed for the Wii. People were complaining about the ports. I say complaining, I mean yelling and screaming and raging about.

Fact is, from all the notable ports I can remember, apart from PoP, the Wii editions have been the best. Scarface was improved. Godfather was much better with the fist controls. RE4's aiming is much much better too. What the fuck is the problem here?

I would buy Wind Waker again for the Wii if it was actually a special edition of some kind, i.e. a new dungeon and no more triforce hunt, or something like that. They would have to do more than just give it the TP treatment though. The wiimote was a very marginal improvement over the Gamecube controller the way they did it in TP, namely the swordplay.

I enjoy the novelty of having RE4 on Wii, but it was entirely unnessicary, and I certainly don't need to play Wind Waker again.
    Some games do deserve remakes.
As good as WW was, it don't need to be remade.

When Twilight Princess came out, there was a thread asking where we would like to see the series go next and there was an idea that I really liked. Setting a zelda game where hyrule is in the middle of an industrial revolution of sorts. I think the basic story given for it was that rather then ganon getting the triforce of power , he gets the triforce of wisdom and is depicted as this frail old crazy inventor. There could be huge clockwork monstrosities and some neat new gadget and puzzle options thrown in. Steampunk Zelda would be the best way to describe it i think. It would be a nice way to keep the series fresh.

Zelda games, save for ... you know, the ones we don't speak of, are pots of gold, anyway. This whole WORST ZELDA EVR. Has to be taken with a grain of salt. Is one pot of gold really all that less wonderful than the other? Zelda games are great, people. We don't need to argue on this stuff. People will fight over anything.

Sure. Unless you want to aim with the wiimote.

Personally, TP was a let down. But the last, and really only Zelda game I enjoyed was Ocarina of Time.

They're just not for me, I guess. Too many puzzles, not enough interesting combat.

While I think the idea is interesting and all, I think that would piss off a lot of the current Zelda fans.

Personally, (stor wise) I think they just need to shake things up a bit... Similar to how Super Mario RPG shaked up the whole Mario story. I'd like to see a big Zelda where Ganon is no longer the main villian, and things like that.
