Sometimes we don't have the money, sometimes we just don’t have the time. We all miss tons of parties. All of us. All the time. This is a good thing. It allows us to filter through the mediocre and focus on the pure gems that only occur every so often. The problem is that we sometimes wait too long. Three.. Four.. Eleven years. One day it finally hits you. *BOOM!* "I never played Sim Ant!". And that’s when it begins. You hit eBay. You go to garage sales. You find a damn Apple 2 and you play Sim Ant! Now that's a LTTP story!
Now tell me yours!
TL;DR
Have you ever been LTTP? If so then for the love of god tell us because of course we want to know.
I've LLTP and seen only regret. Life filled with pains and aches of things undone. If only I would've stopped for one more minute. If only I would have eaten that sardine. If only. Those two words haunt my existence. You've brought me great misery, gertbeef, forcing me to conjure up my past.
And I need to play Beyond Good and Evil sometime. Yeah.

I just got Portrait of Ruin recently, and now I realize I must go back and play a ton of Castlevania games.
Like Dawn of Sorrow!
I managed to find a copy of Psychonauts for PC but I didn't even read the requirements in my rush to buy it. My laptop cannot play it. I had to hide the box to stop my weeping. Some day I'll play you, game. Some day.
Still searching for my copy of Beyond Good and Evil. Is the Gamecube version a good version?
How long do you have to wait before being late? I've been buying up all the XBox 360 BC games and 360 launch titles (GRAW, Phantom Dust, Ninja Gaiden, etc.) I still buy SNES games (I bought Tinstar a few weeks back) and I've been trying to hunt down Silent Bomber for the PS for awhile.
My backlog is disgusting. I just started Riddick, which I bought at a Circuit City sale last year. Same goes for Psychonauts and Company of Heroes. I have a huge stack of unopened PC games next to my monitor.
I'v always assumed being 'lttp' means discovering/playing a game for the first time long after everyone has stopped talking about it/having game ons, etc, so, being English i feel I'm always pretty much lttp when I get games you guys have had for weeks already.
I really want to play Beyond Good and Evil and Psychonauts and I have neither a PS2 or an original Xbox, plus neither being backwards compatible. And apparently EBgames doesn't stock Beyond Good and Evil on the Cube. Which i do have. Go figure.
Is Psychonauts good on the PC or more of a console thing?

I'm surprised that the PC wasn't the lead platform. It looks that good. Plus it supports gamepads out the box.

Hm. Now I'm really tempted to go download it off Steam for 20 bucks.
The most noticable party I've been late to is the Prince of Persia series. I bought Sands of Time and Warrior Within on the cheap a couple months ago, and have access to...whatever part 3's name is.
So I slide POP 1 in my Cube, and proceed to hate it. Annoying combat, frustrating controls, RETARDED penalties (you can flip over people and run up walls and have a 5 foot vertical leap...but a fall of 5 feet and one inch means instant death?). So yeah, I guess frustration is the new fun or something.
Indeed you do. And the other posters who mentioned it. However, I noticed that some are seeking the Cube version. That could be tricky. The comparatively few multiplatform releases that made it to the Cube had limited printings, and BG&E appears to be one of the worst offenders. Half.com has it, though for more than many are accustomed to paying for used copies of 4-year-old games (for some reason, a general search always goes direct to the PC version and shows no other results): http://product.half.ebay.com/Beyond-Good-Evil_W0QQtgZinfoQQprZ11248
Check out the price for the factory sealed copy. Ouch.
Only if you have also skipped every other FPS over the past 14 years. Doom is a classic, but that genre has come a long way, and it's tough to go so far back without fond memories to fuel the effort.
The biggest LTTP effort currently on my shelf is Half-Life. The first one. I purchased it for PS2 earlier this year and played about 1.5 hours of it before getting sidetracked by other games. I liked what I played, though, and I hope to finish it before the absurd bargain that is the orange box is released this fall.
the DS in general, just got one 3 weeks ago, been playing Trauma Center, EBA, Phoenix Wright, Canvas Curse. still on the look out for Meteos, and will probably drop the $35 that Nintendo is charging for MKDS.
I am just now getting into Final Fantasy.
I mean, I played 7 and enjoyed it, but never played any others again.
Now I'm buying them left and right to play them all....
I've never played an MGS game, a Fallout game, NiGHTS, Earthbound from start to finish, Beyond Good and Evil, Deus Ex, Dead Rising, Puzzle Quest, Okami from start to finish, any RE game other than 4, or System Shock, for starters.

I haven't played any of those at all. With the exception for a demo of Dead Rising.

I would call you a heretic, but I haven't played half of those games either. I can tell you that pretty much all of them are overrated, though. Except for DR. And Okami.

Think of the last great game that came out that wasn't overrated in these parts.

Hater.
Even so, you're arguing against games that are held on a pedestal by gamers pretty much everywhere, not just here. Ones from way back too, these aren't the PA Flavor of the Month, but ones that have stood up to time. MGS, Fallout, Earthbound, Deus Ex, RE, System Shock, etc...
I mean, if you want to call them overrated without actually playing them, go crazy. Just seemed weird.

Well considering I have played a lot of those games, and many games considered to be the best that aren't on that list, and find those to be overrated, no matter what group of gamers say it's great, I think I've made a pretty accurate assumption in saying that those games are overrated.
Anyways, it was an exaggeration to say I've only played half. The only games on there I haven't played are Deus Ex, System Shock and Puzzle Quest.

FPS games really haven't gone anywhere since Doom, its still pretty much the best one out there. Main reason I'm no longer an FPS fan is because I already played all the classics, and new ones don't bring anything new to the table.
Games that ive been significantly LTTP for are MGS 1 (ive played it via twin snakes remake), MGS 2 (played it via substance port on xbox last summer), Final Fantasy VI (got the GBA port when it came out in Feb), and Zelda LttP (again GBA port).
I've got the FFIII DS remake on hold until i finish FFVI, and someday, someday I hope to play MGS3 (my lack of owning an playstation systems is why ive been late to playing the MGS series).
As for PC games, I've never been LTTP on any per se, however I purchased Civ4 when it was new and the game has barely recieved any playtime (I think i finally installed it in March of this year and basically set up a couple of cities on my first game). I also bought Rise of Legends when it was new, finished the first section of the campaign, screwed around with a few skirmish matches and haven't touched it since, sometime hopefully ill return to it.
I was 6 years Lttp on Final Fantasy 3/6, and 4 years late to the party on FF7. Both were still some of the best RPGs I've played, and definately the best to come out of Japan.
I only played MGS 1 after playing 2, it held up reasonably well.
I was massively late to the party on Rock and Roll Racing, which is an awesome game everyone should play.

Back when I first had my Gamecube, my dad accidentally crushed it by dropping my TV on it (broke the TV too) and for some reason I never did buy another one.
So now I'm playing the entire GCN collection that I missed on my Wii, which is rather badass. It was like a giant flood of awesome games hit all at once.

What?!
I'm sorry, while I find Halo, Halflife 2, FEAR, etc to be perfectly playable, all they really add is new graphics. In fact, recent shooters tend to have lifeless peashooters, compared to Doom's epic shotgun, which you can really "feel".
Yes, I'm aware of gimmicks that these games all have that the original FPS games did not. Yes, I'm aware that newer games are far superior for multiplayer. But at the core, I can honestly recommend Doom over Halo or even Halflife 2.
I don't agree that recent games add nothing to the genre.
The peashooter thing really is irritating, to be fair. It's terrible to be a horribly beweaponed deathmonger, and all your guns do when they fire is make a cute little poot.

god there's like 16 games for gamecube i need to get.
i just bought Okami, Katamari Damacy, Ratchet and Clank (the first), God of War (1, i have 2), and Shadow of the Colossus.
oh and The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver on PS1. i remember playing the first level as a kid but that's all.
I should probably go pick it up or something, eh?
PS4: Voranth
And I need to play Beyond Good and Evil sometime. Yeah.

I can see your point, however.
Oh and Golden axe, but that will hopefully be fixed tomorrow.
I didn't play StarCraft until 2003.

I've also got to start on Resident Evil 4, since I just picked up the Wii version and never played it on gamecube.
More recently, I was LttP on Shadow of the Colossus. Holy crap, what was I waiting for. That game was amazing.
