What's the failure rate of Wiis through regular usage (not including drunken college kids throwing up on a Wii or something)? I've never heard of a broken Wii, and I have a feeling a replacement policy for $50 was a complete waste of money. I know in the other warranty thread more than 20% of the cost of the product was frowned upon, and this was 25%. I just want to justify my anger right now, as I know Nintendo's damn good about defects with their products

That's a terrible idea. Wiis are pretty reliable, and even if it breaks, Nintendo replaces it for free under their own warranty, which is rather long. I think you get an extra three or nine months if you register it, too.

It wasn't my idea, I was completely against the extended warranty, but it's too late now. I feel, in this case, it was a complete rip-off for a product that's been reliable, and a company that has a really flexible return policy.
