I need to grab basic stats off my site.
Basically:
All hits / page views
unique page views
nothing too fancy, but should record hits across all pages of the site.
Real time "updates" would be nice, but not needed.
Can't use any of those "free" hit counter services because it's behind a firewall and doesn't have access to the internets. Has to be something that can run "locally and internally"
I have access to the apache logs and the server is capable of running perl and php.
The only problem is these guys delete the logs on me after awhile cause they say it fills up their disks. I told them to get bigger disks but that isn't going to happen. So something that can track and keep stats even if the apache logs are nuked.
also, the site gets pounded on a lot; so something small and nimble would be preferred
