Polydipsia (increased thirst) is a symptom of a number of different types of infections. It is not a documented side effect of cephalexin. So I'd suspect the illness rather than the antibiotic is what's causing the increased thirst. What are you giving him Keflex for?
And why don't you just call your vet's office and ask? They should be able to tell you.
Feral on
every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.
The dog is on Keflex as a prophylactic post-surgery. I did ask the vet about the problem, they had never observed it but said that the Keflex is probably making him nauseous which is why he drinks the water. Since the drug isn’t actually approved for veterinary use, good information about side effects is somewhat insubstantial, so I thought I’d ask in case there are some vets crawling the forum who have run into this.
