Hey guys, anyone know a company who can print those cool, ridged - Crackerjack animated-shifty cards, maybe business card sized?

I think it would be a cool idea for a business card... Anyone know the process, costs?

I don't know how much it'll cost you, but the term you're looking for is lenticular.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.

I've done a few lenticular projects for clients - so I can tell you this much, it is going to be expensive unless you are running large amounts, by large amounts I mean 50K minimum.

I can of course be done on a smaller scale, but the unit cost gets ridiculous.

The way the lenticulars work is to vertically interlace all your images into one image, then a plastic sheet has to be precisely lined up and fixed over the top so the groves (actually multifaceted prisms) line up with the vertical strips of the interlacing of your images. It's a complex printing and assembly proceedure - hence the high price you will have to pay. The more images in an animation, or layers/depth in a 3D image the higher the cost, as the interlacing has to be finer and the more facets the prism needs, and it gets harder to line them up.

If you are talking about a box of 500 hundred cards... well I think you will be shocked at the price. I know of one printer in CA that specializes in these. PM me if you need contact information.
