Would a Zune "game" allow the use of WiFi, like, could someone make a text web browser? That would be awesome.

No, while the Wifi allows inter-device communication, it does not allow internet communication. Halfway cool.

Ever since I upgraded to 2.5, I now have double episodes of some podcasts. Is anyone else having this issue? The twins don't show up in the software on the computer, so I don't know how to get rid of them. Any ideas?

So I installed 2.5 and it's working pretty well. I love having my metadata editing capabilities back! Now, if only they would bring back the five-star rating system I would be so happy.

Also these new Social features (having your friends' top songs on your Zune, etc.) are actually tempting me to get a ZunePass, which I didn't see much use for before.

The clocks are a "Game". It's not part of the firmware.

I've been playing around with the game dev kit...it's definitely a tech preview. For one thing, after you're done with a game, it actually reboots the system instead of just going back to the menu. Gwuh. Also, the paint calls are faster than the screen refreshes resulting in some pretty awful tearing. Annoying, but can be worked around.

So, after botched syncs, wrong album art, and issues with videos in general, I decide to pull all the songs/vids/pics off my Zune (accumulated from 4 different computers), and then erase the whole damn library.
I then changed the relationship back to Guest, which helps keep unwanted old podcasts off it...
I really love the Zune itself, but there are still alot of issues with the software. I do like how they are listening to what people want for a change, but it still has always been buggy as all hell for me.
Here's hoping the next update solves some of the more annoying issues.

    I hate Amazon.

So, I'm in Australia which makes buying a Zune that little bit harder, especially one with one of those Originals engravings but I managed to work out a way that wouldn't cost a boatload and take forever.

Oh how I was wrong about it taking forever, at least part of it. The Zune2 80 with the engraving arrived within a week or so to the person in the US who will be shipping it over to me but I also ordered some accessories, well it turns out like almost a month later the damn Travel Pack wasn't even shipping till Wednesday, 2 days ago.

Bloody hell. At least I know I'm still actually going to get something within 2 weeks, or I'll cry. :<

    How's the Zune's audio quality?

I'm tired of shuffling my 10 gigs of music around on a 2 gig flash player, but one thing I love about the Sansa is how great the audio quality is. I'd never thought audio from a tiny MP3 player could sound so crisp, smooth, and dynamic.

I hope the Zune is at least as good as the Sansa. If it's better, hey, another reason to leap for it.

I haven't tried a Sansa, but I have a Zune 80 and I have no complaints about sound quality. The standard headphones have a really nice sound, but audiophiles might buy another pair. It seems a 320 bit mp3 song is louder than a 96 bit audiobook mp3 and there's no equalizer. If you can live with that then I say go for it.

    There's no non-presets equalizer.

MP3 player makers are scared to death that you'll come up with an EQ setting you hate, and blame them. At least, that's the only reason I can think of for why they never let you set your own equalizer.

    I'm really torn right now.

I love my Zune 30 that I've had for about a year now, but I am sorely tempted to buy one of the new shiny Zunes.

The problem is that the 4 and 8 gigabyte versions don't have enough memory, and the 80 seems to me to have way too much memory. I don't feel good paying $250 for as much as 60 gigabytes' worth of space I don't think I'll ever use.

Oh, why don't they just have a 16 gigabyte version? Or even a 30 gigabyte version with the new style?

I listen to all my music flat anyway. On the Sansa flat sounds great. That and I have my own pair of Sennheiser closed can phones. I also connect my Sansa to the front aux port on my Alpine + Infinity car stereo.

Yeah, I've had my Zune for over a year and just barely filled the damn thing.
I then removed 10 albums of stuff I don't like, deleted 15 old movies, and freed up about 4 GBs.
I really want a newer Zune, but I'll wait for the inevitable price drop, and for it to be in Brown.
My 30 randomly shuts off sometimes, but otherwise is really great. I feel bad when I let my PSP sit dead for days when using my wall charger for my Zune.

One of the things Microsoft really did right on the old style Zune is putting in a very good Digital to Analog converter (DAC). I can't speak for the iPod touch, or the iPod Classic (whatever gen this is now), but I remember someone compared it to the 3G or 4G iPod's using some crazy audio analysis hardware and the Zune won hands down.

OH YEAH I got one of those A/V cables for the Zune so when at a friend's house we can watch videos.
The only thing is, if it's going through an HDTV, the quality is SHITTTYYY. Like, it's much better going through a 360. I dunno what I expected though.

This one. I got it to use when the Zune isn't in my pocket, like sitting in car while driving, in a bag, etc. I haven't really used it at all but so far I like it, good build quality, looks nice, etc.

TV shows look great on the Zune too. I'm trying to get some games onto it but I'm running into problems with the software, sigh. :/

Currently the game SDK does not support 64-bit systems. I don't know if that's your problem or not, but it's something to keep in mind when trying to troubleshoot why you can't get games.

Yeah, I was told that and was annoyed because all the software installs perfectly and basically all of it is 64bit versions of the software. :< I think I'll just install VMWare and run a 32bit version of Vista or something.

The Zune is awesome, honestly, it's a million times better than the iPods I've owned and used. Headphones are at least remotely comfortable and have better sound quality, the interface is better, the device looks better (I'm quite sick of the tired Apple look), the 'Zune Pad' is a million times better than the click wheel, it incorporates the best parts of the touch wheel and having a 'd-pad,' it has a radio, etc.

There are some slight downfalls like no clock but Zune > iPod.

Actually it goes a bit deeper than that, and has to do with the driver interface. You can write and compile games, but you can't deploy or test them because the software can't talk to the 64-bit Zune Drivers yet. They're supposedly working on it, though.

There definitely needs to be a subscription service for tv shows, because I'm not really into buying episodes seperately for more expensive than a dvd box to only watch them once. I'd even be cool with like, a Zune Pass Gold or some shit for a couple bucks more that includes video.

First off, can we fucking update this thread title? More like a year and 6 months later.

Anyways, there have been rumors of a "Theatre Pass" which is rumored to be another $10 a month but is also all you can download and want for that month. However, they are saying also that for Zune users that have had Zune for over a year when they launch it, they are going to give them a 2 month free pass or something like that. Probably to up the amount of downloads so that they can say "Oh well last month we have over 10,000,000 episodes of Myth Busters downloaded! Zune is teh best!"

I'm glad they have the video section now, but seriously, it took this long?
If J. Allard knew what he was doing, we'd have full integration with the 360.
You buy songs from XBL marketplace, sync your Zune via 360, copy CDs to 360 then to your Zune, and get all your content (XBLA games, videos and the like) onto your Zune.
Instead, they rushed it out the door and gave us shoddy software, and things that should have been there since launch (video store, meta tags, podcasts) a year later.
