So, I'm about to leave to go to my friends 80s party and I realized I really haven't thought of how to dress. I have some crappy jeans I can cut some holes into and I have some pretty good hair stylin stuff so i can make my hair all slicked back and stuff. What else can I add to the outfit to make it half decent?
wear socks up to your knees with single, wide red or blue stripes at the top. Talk about this cool new movie you saw called robocop. pull up in a delorean. talk about how sweet your betamax is and how betamax is going to beat vcr.
also wear a work out bandana like the guy in the goonies
Unfortunately, I don't really have anything ready for this. I tried to put holes in my jeans but it doesn't look good at all so I'm just gonna go with shorts. Honestly, all I've got so far is a button-up collared striped kinda 80s looking shirt (unbuttoned) w/ a tight white undershirt, my hair is very slicked back and I have a oversized black rubber band thing around my neck (not inteded for that purpose I believe). Any other ideas here? It still doesn't look that great.
When I went to an 80's party I wore a bright blue blazer with black pants and white tennis shoes. To compliment this I also made my hair into a flock of seagulls. I also wore shades. It was pretty awesome.

Also, I'm not looking to stick out like a sore thumb... just enough so its kinda funny and it passes the dresscode.

Got any bright neon colors?
Edit: will sandals + flip flops be 80s at all?
Push the jacket arms up past your elbows to complete the look. Oh and some big square sunglasses.
Get a flannel shirt and cut the sleeves off. Wear a white, long sleeved shirt underneath that.
If you have some boots, wear them and tie a bandana around one of them.
Bam. You're Bender from The Breakfast Club.
