I'm taking on the big cheese. I kill his first form, no problem(found a nice little spot where he won't attack and I can easily shoot him.) When it gets to his second form, though, I pretty much just die. Any tips?
Stay on the second floor and let him come as close to you as possible. Hit him with a shotgun and he should fall to the floor. Then unload on him until he comes back, and repeat.
I generally don't save unless I'm about to turn the game off. What's the point? RE4 has a very generous checkpoint system.
You never know what's going to happen. I've had games freeze or the power go out and I'd lose an hour or more of gameplay. Although, that's mostly with RPGs, I've adapted it to every type of game that allows infinite saves.

Woo, just beat the game. Wii version is much more enjoyable. Last boss is a peice of cake, as usual.
Any tips for Separate Ways? Is it pretty long?
Save your arrows.
I don't want to ruin anything for you, but you'll NEED them later.
If you're talking about the boss I think you are, TMP at the feet+knife worked better than arrows for me.
Arrows are best used on the chaingunners.
Yes, those fucking beasts seem to be able to kill Ada in two hits.
Ada takes double the damage Leon does. It probably took me twice as long as it should have to beat Assignment Ada because of that stupid JJ at the beginning.
Yeah that's what you have to do to get the HandCannon.
The HandCannon is awesome and everything, but not really worth all that effort.
Well I'd want to do it since I'm a completionest, and I wanted to unlock everything before I started another playthrough with Leon.
Yeah. That's what I said before I played it. Then I played it for a couple of hours. Continually got raped, and said "Fuck this!". I did manage to unlock everyone, but getting 5 stars really isn't worth it for me.
Luckily, you can just download the Wii gamesave with the Handcannon unlocked. I'm planning to do this when I get RE4 Wii, since I already got through GC mercs legitimately.
I have the PC version of RE4. Not sure if it works in that way for me. I could use a trainer I guess. I just wnated input on if 5 starring everything is more toruble then it's worth? I figure why should I bother playing mercs if no one thinks the end reward is worth it or realistically attainable?

Because it is extremely fun.
With regards to the trainer though, there's a translated version of the trainer on that website I linked you to earlier (here ) if you really want to use it. If this is your first playthrough I wouldn't recommend it, but if you just want to get stuff and mess around you may as well give it a try. Don't quite know how well it works since I've never tried it.

Dude, that guy is simple. Just climb up onto the little roof and start unloading rifle shots into his head as soon as he appears. You should put him down before any of the soldiers figure out how to climb up to get you.
Make sure that he gets introduced to the good doctor and his rusty chainsaw. That ought to keep his parents busy with therapist bills for the next 10+ years to come.
Off-topic (or on, really, but off the topic of 5 year olds):
I forgot how genuinely scary the island is once you get to the lab. Just... the atmosphere, everything. I wasn't screaming or anything, but that's because I knew what was coming. Playing through up to and through the Regenerators... Very creepy, very atmospheric. I can't remember my first time through the area on GC, but I'd imagine that I moved a lot slower through each silent area, and ran a lot faster away from the Regens and friends.
I just started playing RE4: Wii Edition, and I have no experience with the regular one, so this is all new to me.
How do you kill El Gigante, the big "cave troll" that comes out after you get back from the lake?
Also, what's the strategy for upgrading your guns? I've spent an inordinately large amount of money making my handgun better because I love it so and the ammo is plentiful.

1. Shoot him in the face and run away till he bends over and you see a cutscene. Then run up to him, hit A, and start waggling. Repeat. If you have the TMP yet it helps a lot.
2. If you've already upgraded the handgun a ton, you could stick with it. When you get the very last upgrade, it becomes a 1-shot headshot MACHINE, but isn't good for anything other than ganados. There's a handgun called the Red9 that most players prefer, due to that fact that when it's upgraded a single handgun bullet will be as powerful as a normal shotgun blast. As for the other guns, they're personal preference. Some players like the Semi-auto rifle and Striker Shotgun that you get latter in the game, I like the bolt-action rifle and pump-action shotgun, so I upgraded those.
I don't bother upgrading much unless it's a gun I intend to keep (at least for a while). I upgrade the handgun a little bit sometimes, and just wait till I get the red9, then upgrade that a lot.
El Gigante fight; the dog should help you out (unless you have no heart and didn't help him at the start of the game), shoot him until he drops down, climb on him and waggle to cut the plagas. If you have flash grenades, they're handy at that fight too.
Yeah that's what you have to do to get the HandCannon.

I've done Leon's misson and both of Ada's on normal, which just leaves mercs and possibly Pro mode runs.
So, I just beat RE4: How Capcom Got Its Waggle Back, and I'm wondering. Should I do Assignment Ada or Separate Ways first? Is Separate Ways just a longer version of Assignment Ada?

Play Seperate ways, Assignement Ada is just a little timewaster minigame wheras SW has a lot more going for it in terms of filling in some of the blanks in the plotline

Also it's about as long as a full chapter. Maybe a little longer.
I started my pro-mode run tonight. Died five times on the village before advancing. This is gonna be fun.

Are there zombies? Yes.
Zombies make anything good.
