I recently added an additional gig of Ram to my computer, which I built last year.
I added the same kind of Memory as before (Corsair XMS), but now the computer is restarting itself whenever I open certain applications, like Firefox or Outlook. I then get an error report, send the report, but nothing shows up as to what the problem is, only that it's a "very serious error." I can then do whatever I want for awhile, until it decides to restart again.
Could the additional memory be causing this? The problems only started with the memory upgrade.
Below are the key elements to my computer:
-ASUS M2NPV-VM Socket AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6150 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
-SAMSUNG SpinPoint P Series SP2504C 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Windsor 2.2GHz Socket AM2 Processor Model
-CORSAIR XMS2 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

added the same memory on Monday.
I have four slots for memory, and the Motherboard can take 4 gigs, yet now it's acting like an ungrateful teenager. I checked to make sure the memory clicked firmly into place, but other than that I'm stumped. Diagnosis?

Could just be coincidence.
Burn it to cd and let it run overnight. If it gets erros, you have either incompatible sticks, a dusty or bad memory slot, or a bad stick of ram.
