I really hate how PVP makes me feel. Arena especially is so frustrating.
I'm on a 2v2 with a hunter, and we're a weird combo but we do ok (around 1600). I'm not hardcore about it but I don't like losing or playing like shit. We win some games out of sheer surprise when people aren't used to our weird combo. Sometimes these are higher rated teams that we "should" lose to. So we beat a mage/shammy team like that, then we get them again. They kill me and as they're killing my partner the shaman says "not this time noobs. your ass got lucky last time." I can't reply in /say because I'm dead.
My blood is STILL fucking boiling. Jesus christ.
Ending the night on a pally/warrior loss that we almost beat. I kind of want to shoot myself in the face.
I vividly remember a 2v2 in which, after riz died, their priest saying in /yell, "I can keep my team-mate up, why can't you?"
I also recall someone trash-talking, after we'd killed their team mate, and they'd already lost.
You just need to remember that these people just do it to get under your skin. Opinions in arena are pretty much useless.
Also never ever click a link for loot that they may send through yell or say. Overheard a couple of times when people in my guild fell for that... suddenly its two people against five after the other three get dced.
So are you saying Prot Pallies shouldn't be able to tank everything Druids and Warriors can? Because as the game is balanced right now, raid bosses are tankable by Prot Pallies. So to me (and Blizzard), it is indeed something you balance the game around.
No. What I am saying is that paladins are a distant third to warriors and druids in tanking. So much so that most people won't even consider it an option (like my guild til I started proving that yes, I can and I rule). So what if some guild had a paladin tank Kael? Pre-BC there were end game raiding guilds with arms warriors for mt's. That doesn't make arms warriros good, anymore than a paladin tanking kael makes paladins good.
I don't mind being third, I mind being a distant third. Fortunately for me, the one thing I would change to fix this (more hp) will somehow be addressed in 2.4, booyah. Here's to hoping they ditch redoubt and add the avoidance to holy shield and make our +sta talent 10 instead of 6%.
I think you should work on your tanking or something. I can't find anyone who dislikes pally tanks except on internet forums. In-game everybody loves them. So they need a little more gear because they lack the fuck-up buttons of a warrior. Big deal. That's not a game balance issue IMO.

I know your pain. My 2v2 team got the same frost mage/rogue combo three times in a goddamned row, and each and every time I'd smoke the rogue, but my paladin would die, so the mage would kite and kill me. Each. And. Every. Time.
Holy shit I wanted so badly to put my foot through my monitor. He knew his stuff, I can't fault him at all. Probably the best mage I've come across so far. But I don't think I've ever been so angry playing WoW.
I really don't give a shit if I lose in Arenas, I dislike them to begin with. I get pissed if I lose in BGs. If you've ever seen the AVGN, thats me in warsong gulch. Though, a minute later, I'm perfectly fine again and not in a bad mood.
Arenas are damn retarded, and I'm sure they're entirely the fault of those clowns who spent their entire life in front of Ironforge or Ogrimmar wasting their lives on "you can't heal or use pots!" duels.
I would have liked to see them invest energy into more dynamic battlegrounds. Not PvE ones like AV is.
I mean, I can see where ret pallies are coming from, you want beat things up with your olol big twohanders and be able to use it in raids. That's cool and all...
But please don't make it out to be that big of a deal. Seriously.
You got one awesome spec, one okay spec, and one shit spec.
That's about par for the course in WoW.
Personally? Buff prot. I don't give two shits about ret, because I think ret fits the "fun" spec quite nicely. Nice DPS in PVP, nice soloability, nice to just step into and beat the shit outta people. What's not to love?
Especially considering that there are a couple of classes worse off then olol Ret pallies.
Also!
Happy: Mo fuckin 65 before Terrokar bitches. And I started outlands at 58.
Hate: No more rested. So I need to take like, a week off to build it up again.
Hope: That I can get to 67 in Terrokar, hopefully halfway to 68, and then just run instances to 68.

Its not very good at all in pvp, which is part of the main complaint.
Arena is getting more and more cookie cutter, which hurts retribution even more, since it does nothing that other classes don't do better.

When Blizzard can balance the classes in such a way that all of them are equally desirable in the arenas, then they should work on making all specs viable.
Until then, a handful of classes are in top demand (yes, including Paladins and Warriors in particular, as well as warlocks), whereas others (hunters, druids, rogues) are heavily under represented no matter what spec they are.
I don't care if it was overpowered for stupid reasons, if subtlety made me a hot commodity for arena teams, I'd happily spec it every weekend. But it doesn't, so I don't. Being desirable at all is more important than wanting your favourite pet spec to be desirable.
On one hand, this could probably fit in another thread, on the other hand... it's clearly a topic that a lot of people feel passionate about, thus falling under hate and hope.

Yes, shit like this is why I can't stand the Arena. I don't know why, but somehow after already being frustrated by getting my ass kicked, I can't help getting even more pissed off when some asshole on the winning team is yelling "lol noob lrn2stam" at my dead body. It just sucks all the fun out of it for me.
I could have sworn someone said Season 1 and 2 armor/weapons were going to be purchasable by honor in one of the upcoming patches, is that true?
Supposedly when Season 3 starts Season 1 gear will be the 70 epic honor gear and Season 2 will go to Season 1 Arena prices (not requiring rating; only season 3 will require the rating)
It hasn't been clarified if this will require a patch or if it's jut like a switch they'll flip when season 3 starts, which should be fairly soon I think.

I believe S3 is set to start with the release of 2.3, meaning that it'll likely be done with a patch that we're getting anyway.

Of course, to give you a glimmer of hope, it gets way worse higher up. We played C A P S L O C K C R E W a couple weeks ago, wasted them the first time, and then lost the second game, and instead of taking the classy way out, and not being douches, they yelled "attack the warrior wtf?" about a million times. It's especially ironic because they lost to us killing their warrior the first time.

Hey, we're just discussing paladins, but I also strongly feel that rogues should be restored to their former glory, too. I'm not just biased in favour of paladins. You never see non combat specced rogues in the arena, ambush spec used to be very popular for pvp.
Though, for that matter, you never see non combat spec rogues at all.
I'm for making every single melee class/spec that isn't a warrior more viable in the arena. This includes rogues and shaman.
Warriors have a monopoly on arena melee, its absurd.

Sadly true. I think i'm the one combat mute rogue left, anywhere.

I was Combat Mutilate for a weekend a couple weeks ago but eventually went back to Premed/SF 30/0/31.
I'd go back to combat swords in a heartbeat, i'm tired of mute. But there's no way i'm going to find a replacement for my emerald ripper/arena season 2 OH dagger.

Not unless you arena for S2 swords or hope they're making S1 weapons purchasable with honor too and start saving for them now.

I had a 3v3 team for a few weeks on my Rogue with a Shadow Priest and a Warlock, we did all right.
But the Priest is taking a break from WoW and the Warlock joined a raiding guild and a 5v5 team leaving me with enough points for an offhand(but I refuse to be that guy) or one of the cheaper pieces of armor.
I started an all-druid 3 v 3 team. I wonder how we'll do? I haven't had much time to play lately, tho, and my druid's gear sucks. And he's the tree. I wanted to name us "warstomp", but it was taken.
BTW when Arena S3 starts the S1 gear will become available for purchase with BG honor.
My only question about this is whether or not it includes the weapons, it certainly should because the only weapons available through the honor system right now are so fucking horrible.

Initially it was just going to be the armour for honour, but last I heard, it'll be the S1 weapons too.
Of course, the S2 weapons will be fairly cheap by that time, and believe me, I know how hard it sucks trying to get onto an arena team as a rogue, but with the change in the rating formulae, it really would do you a lot of good to just get into even a 2v2 with a friend (even if it's a prot warrior in greens, SOMETHING) and do your 10 games a week. If you can break even at 5/5 or do better, you'll eventually earn the points for something useful.
I think of the Arena like I think of daily quests. I don't necessarily WANT to do them, but they're a fine way to kill time, and lead to valuable resources on hand (arena points, gold, whatever).

...I'm cursed.
1st time through to get Attuned for Kara: Wipe on 5% on last boss in BM.
2nd attempt just tonight: Our party is awesome. We're plowing through everything so fast I can't even use half my mana in booming stuff. Get to last boss. Boss is being a bitch, and kills the pally tank, so I Rebirth him. Well Fury warrior takes hit during this time, and he goes down. Oh well. Pally's up and he's getting healed quite well. I in the meantime, draw aggro healing just before the Fury warrior dies and I get killed, no big loss. I release and start running back in hoping I can get in there before we wipe.
Tank dies again. Okay, I figure there's a wipe coming. Mage dies not soon after...Resto shammy doesn't die. Laughter erupts in party chat. The Resto shammy starts attacking boss after everyone else died...and killed the last boss. So I'm ecstatic! I finally got through BM! YAY, KARA!
I go in the instance....run to the boss and....
I can't roll on loot (nothing dropped I wanted anyway). Quest arrows on both entrance NPC and Medivh are both grey...and...I can't complete the quests. It doesn't say the Dark Portal Quest is completed. The instance bugged as I died.
I started an all-druid 3 v 3 team. I wonder how we'll do? I haven't had much time to play lately, tho, and my druid's gear sucks. And he's the tree. I wanted to name us "warstomp", but it was taken.
More like 15v3, amirite? You know at some point you'll have to have everyone spec Balance so you can do that.

eh.. BM is easy. I did it 10 times in a row once for rep. Just get a good group and all your woes will be over
I did a failed run of BM today. Makeup was warrior tank, fury warrior, mage, lock and priest (me). Not a bad group set up for BM I thought.
That is, if the mage wasn't on crack. Now it's been a while since I've seen mages in action, but surely there are more efficient ways to deal with the adds then to spam arcane missiles at them. I was under the impression that AM was the bastard redheaded stepchild of mage spells. So we ended up having adds all over the shop and at the end of it there was two portals up at once. =(
I don't think the fury warrior was much good either because those portal bosses went down so slow. Plus they were all pretty immature and a testament to why I dislike pugs. Pity the solid crew of people that I used to 5man with back before BC stopped playing, wow is a lot more fun with a small group of people you know.

The instance didn't bug, not as such. The quest requirement is to be present at the moment Aeonus dies. Releasing = not present.

AM is better when you don't have to stop and turn and run around every 3 seconds like in that instance.

I can't roll on loot (nothing dropped I wanted anyway). Quest arrows on both entrance NPC and Medivh are both grey...and...I can't complete the quests. It doesn't say the Dark Portal Quest is completed. The instance bugged as I died.

More like 15v3, amirite? You know at some point you'll have to have everyone spec Balance so you can do that.
You stole my thoughts, now give them back.
Pity the solid crew of people that I used to 5man with back before BC stopped playing, wow is a lot more fun with a small group of people you know.
a few pieces of my ret set could use some work but it feels so nice to finally have an epic weapon
The instance didn't bug, not as such. The quest requirement is to be present at the moment Aeonus dies. Releasing = not present.
AM is better when you don't have to stop and turn and run around every 3 seconds like in that instance.
