You might want to hold off on doing the Respec Trial. From what I hear, Cryptic is going to be handing out a free respec a week or so after i10 goes live. You can only earn a respec from a trial once, so you don't want to waste it if you don't have too.

The general rule for defensive/armor toggles is three Damage Resist and one End Reduction, and that might be good for /Dark since it's heavy on End use. I would suggest that either when you respec or as you progress further that you six slot your main attacks and put either a Recharge Reduction or an End Reduction in the extra space.

Try to three slot Stamina with End Modification as soon as you can.

Focus Chi, you'll want to get three recharge into that ASAP, and then work on slotting To-Hit Buffs. It's basically the MA version of Build Up that Blaster's have.

Hasten should get three Recharge enhancements.

The thing is, if you only plan on taking the Super Speed and Fitness power pools, chances are you're going to end up with more slots than you know what to do with as you get further into the game. I guess my general suggestion would be to put focus onto new defensive toggles as they come along. Having a five or six slotted attack is nice, but it won't do you much good if you can't take damage or run out of end.

Posting this as we wait in the reactor room of the first respec trial. Post may seem a bit long cause I'm listing the IOs I used for this build. I'll probably split this build into two posts.

All of those six-slot powers are waiting for various IO sets, which if my calculations are right should put me into the perma-hasten zone. I'm not thrilled with the way he kind of peters out in the last two levels, but I ran out of options for powers I'm willing to run around with unslotted.

No MasterMind builds? I bought the Coh/Cov pack the other day. Been too busy to even decide what class or side I want to be but MM was one i was interested in.

Which builds tend to fare better in PVP?

Personally, I've always had a really low opinion of the fighting pool. And yea, Swift at that late is kinda like saying "Man, I don't even want a power, just pick me up, I dunno a single whopper or something." Never felt a need for acrobatics either but I guess I could see it.

I'd drop fighting and get Ass/Tact/Venge from Leadership, and trade in Swift for one of the useful one-off pool powers like Recall Friend or Aid Other or Air Sup. Or for something from your APP, I dunno what's in it but it must have more than 1 useful power.

Might want to keep Stamina at 20, too, for times when you might exemp/pvp.

I dislike pvping with MMs because you die a lot in pvp, and MMs have by far the longest recovery time of all the ATs - at most the others need to rest up and turn their toggles back on, MMs have to resummon and rebuff pets, which can take a couple minutes, especially if you just did that and died and they haven't recharged yet.

Otherwise I'd recommend the same stuff as I would for pve, Mercs/Thugs/Robots, and Dark/Force Field/Traps.

Ah that is too bad, well my other desires was what I first made back in 2004 when I played the beta and that is a scrapper so I'll poke around those builds posted.

Which SG is more active, Hero or Villain?

Hero is more active but you can get villain teams going, especially now with a co-op zone, you just have to be willing to put a team togetehr instead of log on and expect to instantly get invited.

Also MMs aren't as bad in PvP now that the Bodyguard feature is in. Still, when you die, it does suck to have to go thorough all the re summoning and buffing...but it isn't any different than when you go into a new mission.

EDIT: A lot of us actually like V side better, for the missions and story and whatnot, but it also requires better graphics cards and therefor runs like ass compared to H side for many of our members.

I'm not a huge fan of the Fighting pool either, though I have to say my opinion is changing as I slot up Tough and Weave. With Weave six-slotted and filled with Luck of the Gambler in both it and Combat Jump, I get two 7.5% recharge bonuses, which is crucial to the perma-hasten concept. I had Leadership for a long time and enjoyed the acc and damage bonuses, but with IO sets in my offense I get even better damage and accuracy than Leadership provides. I like that I can retain the levels I'm used to and use those slots to focus on defending myself better.

I'd love to take another pool, but I've used up my options already and the two attacks in my APP kind of suck (and I have more attacks than I can chain well already). You're right about Stamina though - I need to bump that up.

MMs are pretty much tanks in PvP now scoot. I was pretty much impossible to try to kill one in bodyguard mode in RV. I'll throw my merc/dark build up pretty soon whenever I'm done tweaking it for respec.

If you have minions set on passive (or defensive or whatever) and follow, damage you take is split among you and those minions.

Actually Scoot its Defensive and... thats it. They can be following, standing there, or going pewpew at an enemy and it works as long as you're within the right distance of them.

It's really not that hard. You can set one bind to toggle control of your Tier 1s, which you put on defensive/follow, and then you use another one to toggle control of your 2s and 3.

If the devs remembered that this game actually has PvP Poison wouldn't be so bad.

As of right now most of the poison style attacks are broken in my opinion. That choking poison cloud breaks through mez protection badly. If a tank or scrapper gets stuck in it they're going to get held repeatedly and debuffed heavily. Not to mention that very few powers actually protect from poison attacks. Hence why you see every other goddamn Regen as Spines.

    Gouka.

    Also Sky Shatter.

hah, you ass, you make it seem I'm hard to kill in PvP, granted I can fuck people over with toxic, but I don't think the toxic damage is that noticeable. I mean the ticks are fairly small in terms of overall hp, to say brutes and scrappers.

Really, I want to focus on Dwarf form and use the other forms as utility as it comes, or make a Dwarf/Nova hybrid and use the human stuff for buffs. But I can't decide how!

Doc, I feel your pain. Trying to plan my 18 PB just makes me... befuddled. Unless you go all human, there's no way not to "waste" powers and slots. And there's just not enough slots to go around. Some of the human powers are nice, but fitting them in with enough slots is hard. I also wanted to focus on nova & dwarf.

So my trying to make a build for my Stalker, and I've gotten to the point where I have access to the Epic Power Pools, however the builder I'm using isn't letting me select them. What are the requirements to be able to pick and choose your Ancillary Pool? Also, I'm using the CoH/CoV Hero Builder.

Stalkers don't have APPs, they have Patron pools. You have to go to Grandville, pick a patron by talking to the guy outside the Watchtower, and complete their first arc. Note that although you get a respec after completing the arc (in case you're past 41 by time you finish), you cannot ever change your patron.

It's mostly about what patron's concept fits you, as the pools all are pretty much the same across ATs, other than looks and secondary effects.

Lep was awesome to make that for me, and I will play the AR/Traps but for now I've gotten more into this guy villain-side. I'd like some opinions on the build, it is only up to Level 33 since I haven't been beyond that point in the game yet.

I can't download a character planner at work(there are none web-based, are there?), but I've got a few questions on my dark/dark brute.

Touch of fear: I haven't picked it up yet, but I'm thinking about it. I often want enemies to beat on my, but is it nice enough to have to use on bosses or lieutenants?

Midnight Grasp: This isn't actually going to stop an enemy from doing damage, just from doing it in melee range. I'm hesitant to get this, but I think it'd just depend on the number of power pools I go for.

Cloak of Darkness: Assuming I'm going to be doing a healthy mix of soloing and teaming(and hopefully 50% or less solo), how valuable is this, like for scouting in missions?

Siphon Life: I have this now, but it's underwhelming, and I think I may spec out of it. I'll still have dark consumption and dark regeneration for when I need healing

Death Shroud: I hear widely varying reports of how much damage this will do and how valuable it is. My concern would be running too many toggles, with the armor shields in addition to this.

Oppressive Gloom/Cloak of Fear: One guide said I really ought to have one of these status shields, is that a reasonable suggestion? Which one? I kind of like that oppressive gloom would give me a disorient, if I already have fear from Touch, but I don't want the enemies constantly stumbling out of the aoe's range.

I'm going to go through and look, but can somebody help me with two builds? My villain is an Elec/Elec Brute, and my new hero is a Fire/Fire Blaster.
I'll edit this if there's already builds.

There's a web-based builder somewhere that includes all the new stuff. I've played around with it a bit, but for the life of me I can't remember where it was.
