so i havent been keeping up with the thread and i just picked up the game. is there a hardcore need to pick up the strat guide, other than for collecting? like, is there lots of missable stuff that i'll wanna keep track of or anything like that?
Saw P3 in today at my local gameshop. Went to bank to get money. Went back a couple hours later and they were all gone. I should of just gone straight back.
Mind you I'm in Canada so it would be out tomorrow in EB rather than today. 8 copies of it, I saw them, it was so close.
If any of you bought it from the downtown Toronto Gameshack, you are a bunch of hungry bastards and have taught me to always have the money on me. (You could of left me 1 ;_;)
awesome game! I'm just 1 hour in, but already the story is great, visuals are great (the character models are not quite great, but good nontheless) and I'm having fun. Art book is pimp and hard cover.
I find that going to the Restroom is a great way to raise your condition. It always seems to raise my Condition one level but it only works once a day I think. This will require further testing.
According to GameFAQs:
"A Toilet is nearby & there's a 20% chance that it will increase your Condition."

Probably good for referencing Persona fusion like every other SMT guide, and maybe tracking Social Links and Calendar events, but I don't plan on using it for that on the first playthrough.
How come only the protagonist can see it? I thought all Persona users could see the Velvet Room.
As far as I can tell, and I'm not very far AT ALL -- just did the very first Tartarus run, with all the battle tutorials -- it's because he's the only "true" Persona user. Everyone else just has the one Persona, while he can fuse them and change them.

no, wait...
I'm gonna read the Disgaea 2 Manga (Spoiler: It's awesome.) I picked up today and play Incursion/Civ4:BTS if it doesn't show.

Makes sense.
He must be from Lunarvale.
And that's exactly where I'm at now.
I had a running theory when information on the game first came out that
the main character is a reincarnation of Philemon or some such, with the leader of the other gang whose name I can't remember is Nyarlothotep.
I've kinda let go of the theory, because it doesn't make much sense, but I still think it'd be kinda cool.
Holy shit, the first boss is no joke. My whole party was at Lv5 and we got owned. Doesn't help that Junpei is weak to their Wind attacks.
I highly reccomend equipping your main character with a Bow for that fight, they seem weak to Piercing attacks.

It's nice to have. I mostly enjoyed reading Soejima's little comments.
Also, OP condensed. I began the Social Link section, but if there's any other info it could use, I'll throw it in as well.

Well I took my preorder of Bioshock and moved it towards Mass Effect, and gotten this game instead of Bioshock.
The guy at the counter thought I was the stupidest person in the world. I told him 'You'll be able to find Bioshock everywhere after it's released, but games like Persona 3 is hard to find once they're gone. It'll be stupid not to buy it now', and he still think I'm a idiot.
But with 70 hours of gameplay, this game should last me till Mass Effect. Assuming that this is a good game, cause I'd brought this solely on hype alone....
I really love the packaging of this thing. It's a designer's wet dream for a game. I was really excited to see that the art book was hardcover. I also picked up the strat guide, and I love that it's the same size as the game case, etc. It'll look nice on the shelf with the game. I'm about 3 hours into the game, and I think I'm liking it. It seems like it's still in tutorial land, though, so I think I'll like it a bit more when I'm no longer wet behind the ears, and I'm in the complete swing of things.

It seems silly to me that this Persona that we see on all the promotional stuff for the Main, lasts like 5 minutes and then you can fuse it and that's that.
So... how do your other characters work, since you can't fuse their Personas?

I am really impressed with the strategy guide so far. The calendar with social links and their schedules for each month is golden.
As for the artbook, it is a bit on the small side, but the notes and pictures themselves are great. Especially when you compare it to the Bioshock "artbook".

If I know SMT like I know SMT...
It'll be back.
The other characters stay with one Persona...
until it evolves later on.(I think)
I'm thinking... should I save the original for later on? Like maybe if you keep him and fuse it with something awesome much later in the game, you get something really good

IIRC, isn't the special "super" version of the first person a P3:F exclusive?
I hope P3 sells well enough to warrant Fes being localized.
I just got a pixie on the first level of the tower. Is it worth it to fuse it with my existing persona? Is it worth it to fuse anything with my existing persona?

On April 19, 2007, Atlus released an add-on disk for Persona 3 called Persona 3: Fes (ペルソナ3フェス, Perusona 3 Fesu?). A "directors cut" version, which includes both Persona 3 and Persona 3: Fes, was released on the same date. "Fes" is said to come from the word "festival." Fes claims to add another 30 hours of gameplay to the Persona 3 game. It includes a chapter after defeating the main boss, called the Aegis chapter. Unfortunately, the U.S. will not receive the Fes Append disc with Persona 3, although they have not ruled out that Fes may come to the States at a later date.[4]

There is a super powerful persona you can fuse with Orpheus once you max out the Judgment social link, but you need to be level 90 to use it, so chances are good that it won't matter your first playthrough anyway.
Does anyone know where I can purchase items that restore SP? I forget what those items were called that you get in the beginning but I've long since run out of them and it's really limiting how much I can train in Tartarus.

You know if you pop back to the entrance, it refills the gauge, right? Then you can just quickly run back to whatever level you were on.
Man, my characters keep getting tired before I can get to the magical barrier in Tartarus. Any advice on how to keep them from pussing out so soon?
Level up?
I got all the way to the top (14th floor) at lvl 7 by running and only fighting the bosses if I could help it. I finally got tired trying to find a fucking beetle for Elizabeth.

So, am I right in that the Velvet Room functions like the Cathedral of Shadows now, basically, only instead of recruiting demons, you just collect them after battle?

I love the school system info.
I don't think it's that necessary, just nice to have.
This could be why I never got a Seraph or any of the nice endgame demons in Nocturne, though.
woe is meeeeeeeeeeeee.....
Just buy what you want. When you go into Tartarus, talk to them and you can choose to view/change their status and equipment.
There's a pretty good Fusion guide on GameFAQs, actually, if you're close to a computer while playing.
