I'm thinking of changing internet service providers but I can't seem to find any clear answers on whos is the best. Are there any UKers who know what's the bandwagon to jump on right now?
Well...being in London you probably have a greater range of choice than us non-big city dwellers, but I like Zen.
They do have a bandwidth limit (either 20 GB/month or 50 GB/month) but they also promise not to throttle you at peak times. I've found it far better than having an unlimited package with other ISPs where I was constantly throttled. Download speeds on Zen have been much, much higher on average.
I've only hit the 20 GB/month limit once (paid for more easily enough); I have one friend who always goes over his 50 GB/month limit but he downloads a LOT :P
I also chose them because they charge on a month-to-month basis, and it meant I could cancel my service after less than a year, which I needed because I'm hopping from place to place at the moment.
I second Zen.
I had it, then moved to a flat with BT - I'm unimpressed. They either throttle like nobody's business, or their contention rates are crazy.
NTL, or virgin as they are now have always been good for me, except for the one occasion I had to talk to their customer service, which was the worst I have ever dealt with.
virgin are god awful. absolute shit. My experience of them is that if you use them at 11am they're great, if you go anywhere near it at 4pm-midnight - you won't stand a chance. even loading things like hotmail took forever at those times.
I'm now with NDO who i had in london too (living in cambridge now) mainly because hardly anybody covers the area i'm in, but i have to say, i have no complaints, it never slows down, it's got a gb allowance, but it's only an extra £1 per gig that you go over the limit.
Fibretip on
I believe in angels, not the kind with wings, no...not the kind with halos, the kind who bring you home

Could this be a regional thing? I'm with Virgin now and I can only recommend them, it's always fast and torrents can get up to 200kbs.. They haven't charged us all year though, if that's any indication of their customer service.
If you're looking for a good ISP with excellent, excellent, really excellent customer service I can heartily recommend madasafish.com - they have a really shitty name which will get to the point where you won't want to tell people who you are with due to the verbal beating you will take - but an excellent ISP.
I use Eclipse, who were usually recommended to me in the same breath as Zen. I've always got decent speeds, and their "Fair use policy" is clearly stated, without any nebulous language about "abuse of the service."
There's a limit, but it only applies to traffic between 6pm and midnight. I pay £30 per month for the 2nd tier service, meaning my traffic is prioritised over people using the lower tier services, and the "fair use limit" is 40GB. I set torrents to pause during the 6pm-midnight period, and otherwise use the service normally. I've only hit the limit once (they send you an email, which is more than many ISPs do), so I was throttled during the evening for a couple of weeks. I still got faster speeds than the 1Mb/s connection I upgraded from.
Also, they're totally cool about me running a web server on my connection, provided it's not for commercial use, the traffic isn't ridiculous, and I keep it secure. Their tech support kicks ass, too, since they're perfectly willing to abandon the script if it seems like you know what you're talking about.
I had no idea Demon still existed. I used them once upon a time for Dialup, and they were pretty great. Mostly I was happy that I could call them up, tell them I just needed four settings to stick into the software, and they'd actually give them to me. I was running an Amiga 1200 at the time, which always caused problems with "mainstream" ISPs.

So I'd generally avoid them,
