Alright, updated the OP, thanks for the great links guys. I might get to adding the individual tracks and videos that have been linked here... eventually...
So how do people do these? Is there a way to roughly separate vocals from a mix, or are people finding vocal and instrumental tracks separately?
Instrumentals and acapellas of tracks are fairly easy to "acquire," so that's how most are created I'd imagine. I know at least a few DJ's actually go through the trouble of isolating the beat by cutting between verses and words, though. Seems like a hell of a way to spend a night.
