Hey guys, I was driving out of Calgary, Alberta southbound and was going 85-90 km/h in a 80 km/h zone. I saw the police hidden in the bushes about ~25-30 feet ahead of me doing photo radar and immediately slowed down to 80. I drove past him at that speed.
My question is, how does photo radar like this work? Was I photographed back going above the limit or right at the truck going 80? Was I going far enough above the limit to get a ticket (and if so around how much will I be looking at)? Any other info on this kind of stuff?
I'm not sure about the ones in Alberta, but all the ones I know of have both the camera and the radar pointed forwards, so you should be fine. Also, many photo radar units have use a minimum of 10-15 km/h over before they send a ticket.
I think that the internet has been for years on the path to creating what is essentially an electronic Necronomicon: A collection of blasphemous unrealities so perverse that to even glimpse at its contents, if but for a moment, is to irrevocably forfeit a portion of your sanity.

If it was a physical police officer there and not an automatic camera in a truck then I'm pretty sure you're safe. They usually flag people down to give them their tickets if a physical police officer is there.
