I really love HDM...I'm rereading the series right now so I thought I'd do some art of some of the characters...this was really fun, I think I'll do some more :P

from top left: Lord Asriel, John Faa, Lee Scoresby (and Hester), Mrs. Coulter, Serafina Pekkala, Lyra Belaqua (and Pan), Will Parry, Farder Coram

My Asriel is a little foppish so I'm going to work on him :|

Nice clean inks, but they're begging for you to give them some shading and colours. I've never read HDM, I might start with it once the Harry Potter juggernaut is done ruining my life.

This is just my mental picture, but could I suggest broader shoulders and a slightly more square jaw on Asriel? HDM is my favorite book series of all time, and I love your portrayal of Scoresby and Seraphina!

Something about Will's face seems off - I think it's the eyes.

I don't remember much of the trilogy aside from the fact that it was freakin awesome.

Nice, clean characters. I'd like to see more OF them, though...torso's etc? :)

    Look at those clean inks.

    They so clean.

How do you keep them so clean?

By keeping things simple and not over doing anything? I remember reading somewhere on here 'sometimes it's what you don't draw that makes the picture', yes yes?

I don't know, but I am so tired of using a mouse for everything. I wish I had a tablet or a wacom. Someone mail me one and you can have my first born.

Coulter doesn't look nearly evil enough. That bitch was pretty much Cruella D'ville

If I get a tablet out of it he/she would of been useful for just that in fact, but sadly I can't make babies. It takes two to tango.

thank you everybody...Gafoto, you're right, the book says over and over again that she's pretty and I just went for that instead of outright evilness...I tried again and added her monkey:

As for Iorek, I want to draw him, but I don't know enough about bear head structure...I will do some research tonight and take a crack at it =)

edit: Here are Serafina and a new Asriel...

Also, I would just think Serafina would be wearing something warm, like it seems you depicted in the sketch. Noone is going to fly around the higher altitudes getting frigid wind on their cleavage.

Well, actually, Witches in the book wear relativly little clothing because the writer was a horny sunbitch and they want to feel the "tingle of the stars and the music of the aurora" on their skin or something like that. They feel the cold, but it doesn't harm them or anything. They're fucking witches, flying around the north pole. They're hardcore like that.
