The awards go out August 8. (For reference, the 'year' is defined as basically 'the time since last year's G-Phoria', which means the stuff since this time last year.) best new character: might as well be midna, the other choices arent that great.
kasumi is hot.
every game in best strategy is a winner, although CoH is probably the best of the bunch.
sports games are worthless
Gears of War will win best action game because it deserves it.
FF12 is superior to that other filth

GoW will win best multiplayer but its really a tossup between RSix and GoW
Best graphics is bar none GoW
GoW will win game of the year.

The lack of Supreme Commander in the strategy category is disturbing, as is the Odin Sphere RPG snub. I'm glad to see that it is getting credit for its gorgeous graphics though.

I think that there needs to be a co-op category, because that would allow Earth Defense Force 2017 to get a nom. But Gears is probably going to get a sweep. It is the game equivalent of a summer blockbuster movie.

And shouldn't Best Soundtrack nominate a score? Or at least have a Score category? These games need to start crediting the creative teams more, not the licensing ones.

Odin Sphere deserved a nod for the score too. It is by the guy that scored Final Fantasy Tactics.

It's stupid. How's anyone going to take the medium seriously when the people who do the most work get no credit?

Argh, it's hard to pick between GoWII and TP for GOTY. Minda totally wins Best New Character though. She singlehandedly keeps TP from feeling too much like an OoT remake.
