Eye doctor didnt write left or right on my contacts =O
Got back from the eye doctor's today with my first pair of contacts in a very long time, but he didn't write left or write on them and now I am confused. One box is -3 and the other is -3.75, the right lense on my eyeglasses is thicker than the lense on the left. I'm hoping one of you geniuses can tell me which contacts go where using this information If it makes a difference I'm near sighted (can't see far away.)
Yeah I was going to do that anyways but I figured I could figure it out myself. I'm really bad at putting contacts in and I don't feel like spending an hour in front of the mirror touching my eyes comparing the two either :P I'll be calling tomorrow though, it's a little late in the day today.
If one eye is -3.75 and the other is -3, and one eye glasses lens is thicker, the -3.75 will correspond to the thicker lens. I cannot believe that this is not obvious.
The further from 0 is the further from correct vision. The more incorrect your vision is, the thicker the lens will need to be to correct for it.
EDIT:
Also, if you put the wrong one in each eye and your eyes are .75 apart, that's easily enough of a difference that it should be pretty incredibly obvious within minutes that you've got them in backwards.

GAH! That gave me a headache just imagining what that would feel like >.<
Yeah. You'd feel it right behind your eyeballs like someone took a nine iron to your brain. Hell, you'd SEE that things were very clearly wrong right away.

are your eyes the same shape (curvature?) check the diameter and size on the contacts if its significantly different if you put one on the wrong eye it will not fit and slide around alot.
Hey, you know sometimes the optometrist doesn't know which eye goes to which contact. I have -8.00 and a -9.00 and they messed up which eye is which. I could tell pretty quickly that everything was blurry. Hopefully your optom is more intelligent and pays more attention than mine. =/
Yay! for the "thicker lens corresponds to the worse prescription" detail, that may just come in handy some day.
