Are we supposed to believe that Meta Knight broke the Smash rules? How can that be? This is the dude that will toss the other guy a sword just to give him a fair chance.
His taunt should spawn a laserbeam sword at a random opponent's feet. Or him nonharmingly tossing one at them.

Or, alternately, to make sure he doesn't fight with too useful an upgrade...
I thought that Mario was the one breaking the rules. Instead of smacking kirby in the face he offered his hand in friendship. Meta Knight is just the enforcer.

Hamlet will be Hamlet An ineffable tragedy of the human spirit that still resonates, even today.
It wouldn't make sense for Meta Knight to be a bad guy or a final boss because he's someone you can play as. It might make sense if the little baddies stole the Halberd, but really, if they took Meta Knight and gave him the kind of advantages Master Hand or Giga Bowser had they might as well replace the entire fight with a cut directly to the "Game Over" screen.

Heh. I liked this update. Reminds me of all those fighting games that try so damn hard to have some kind of deep, dark plot and fail hilariously at it.

Personally, I'd had vouched for 'When someone...or something...breaks those rules, the world will pay a terrible price...' but that's just me...
I'm very intreged by this update though. Wasn't it mentioned that they were working to expand on the single-player mode? A real plot would be nice to have this time around.
Tag-team Player and Master Hand vs. Evil Blob guys confirmed~!

Hm.
Are these the first widescreen shots we've seen? Is this because the images aren't cropped or manipulated in some way?
I thought this image was Kirby riding his star into the field. But looking closer it could just be a figurine of Kirby falling on to the stage like in the ssbm intro video.
It's a trophy coming alive. Look, you can see how his colours are desaturated, and the effect is teh same as the prior picture, with Mario's statue animating.

He didn't break any rules, he's just that awesome.

I think Meta-Knight is just coming to kick some ass.
Coming to kick everyone's ass is an acceptable answer, however.

So much
I can see Bowser, but who else?
Yes?
Oh ... sorry.
Tag Team mode confirmed.
I was actually thinking about something like this yesterday. Wonder how they could make that work.
Maybe the final boss is this guy.
also that made me think of this:
Personally, I hope they don't release all the characters until they release the game. Gotta have some surprises. XD
How do you respond to someone's signature? LLT = Long Live Tingle.

It's obviously after. Mario kicked Kirby's ass, turned Kirby back into a trophy and then when Kirby changed back into a fighter, they shook hands.
Oh, hey, you're right. That does look like Bowser. Not sure if there's someone next to him or if that's just his claws, though.

that after a few updates like this, they reveal Sonic.
man that gives me an idea
a tag-in/tag-out animation between Master Hand and Crazy hand would be fantastic
SO fantastic.
I'm just getting that vibe, y'know.
