My only problem with this is does he use the EA philosophy of Get it out on a ship date weather its good or not (aside from Will Wright) or the MS of lets put out a quality product that people want to buy.

Halo, Halo 2, Perfect Dark Zero were all rushed. Those are just the ones that the developers confirmed that they needed moore time on.

Yes, I know. Perfect Dark Zero rushed. It is funny when you think about it.

Ok well how about at least the ratio of MS to EA in quality is very favorable in MS.

What they did with Crimson Skies sticks out in my mind. Decided the game was rubbish, fired almost everyone working on it, brought in a new team, and eventually released one of my favorite games of that generation.

    Fucking. Wow.

Why do I think the 360 is going to turn into the Dreamcast now...

There is no way the 360 will ever be as good as the Dreamcast.

    ROFL, good call.

    QOTY material right here.
Meh. The Dreamcast wasn't that great.

It is when you use my patented rose colored reading glasses.

We always care more about celebrities who are cut down in their prime, so why can't it be the same for consoles? Dreamcast is the James Dean of the console world.

He's going to have to get that tat removed now.

Why exactly neither of his tattoos have a conflicting nature with his expected employer.

A release date and a logo from a title made by a company other then the one you're working for isn't conflicting?

I'm sure it's not a real issue but it's rather funny.

I liked Peter Moore, he always gave entertaining E3 presentations. Of course, I have no idea what his actual job was, so I have no idea if he was good at that or not, or if it even matters. Executives seem like interchangeable bits, since they're mainly just talking heads.

I still can't understand why he didn't go ahead and get a sleeve. _Satan_ would have gotten a sleeve! Anyway, judging solely from the pull quotes attributed to him at wikipedia, Moore is a man comfortable -- even happy -- with failure. I wish him well... or maybe I wish him fail? Whatever makes him happy.

I've been googling this new guy, Don Mattrick, a bit. Apparently he was one of the big execs that resigned from EA around the time of the huge-ass employee compensation debacle and the like. Didn't resign in protest, but he said something about how he wasn't happy with where the company was headed.

Also, he's apparently been working closely with Moore since he came on with Microsoft as an advisor, so he should know a good deal about MS' marketing plans and the like. So this shouldn't be a huge setback for MS' plans for the Xbox. Don also had a conversation with Peter Moore onstage at the E3 2005 press conference.

True words these. The Dreamcast will always sit on a pedastal in my home.

With that said let me also say that I have played my 360 about 100x more than my Dreamcast. I am not sure what to think about Peter leaving. My guess is he got a nice raise and got to move back to cali which is no small thing. It is so awesome here. I think he did a pretty good job for MS though and I am a little sad to see him go.

This sounds worse for Sony than it does MS. If Moore ends up a high-ranking mucky muck at EA, I can't imagine he'll be championing the optimization of their games for PS3. Specifically, EA Sports' biggest title, Madden, is running at 60fps on 360 and 30fps on PS3. Moore's less than neutral background makes me wonder if he'd be inclined at all to balance that.

The best possible scenario (speaking of rose-colored glasses) is that Microsoft won't be very effected, and yet Moore will bring a new point of view to EA Sports which will include the words "quality" and "fun" and maybe even "new and interesting features without losing the old, good features."

I'm envisioning a resignation letter with a 'red ring' letterhead.

You know what I had a dream a few moments ago.

Peter Moore resigns from Microsoft, moves to SEGA to head up their new hardware unit.

    I nearly wept. Dreamcast........ sniff.

Wow well good luck to Peter Moore I hope things go well with him. Hopefully he can fix everything wrong with EA sports but it might be too big for him to handle.

I have to wonder what next year's E3 will be like without him. He had a stage presence and was somewhat of a showman. He still can't beat Reggie but he was a pretty close second.

    I wonder...

Peter Moore's big speech about the red ring of death and the new warranty was one of the most customer-friendly things I've ever heard. I don't know if they were his words, or if he was told to say them. All I know is if they were his words, I'm pretty sad to see him leave Microsoft. If his mind was the one behind all that, he's definitely the kind of guy I want responsible for...whatever the hell it was he was doing.

I remember when Don came out with (I think) Ed Fries to announce EA on Xbox Live. That was pretty LOL. Then he seemed kind of cold, but I could care less to tell you the truth. I freaked out when Ed Fries left and things went fine. Then J Allard went to work on the Zune and the Xbox division went fine. Shane Kim, despite the fact that I haven't seen the fucker do anything, seems to be doing a fairly good job. I don't see this a huge deal though, admittedly, I liked Peter Moore.

Also, where the fuck is Robbie Bach?
