Local Multiplayer games

Okay, I currently own a PS3/360/Wii and I need good multiplayer games that are done locally.

On my Wii I have: (as far as multiplayer games)

Mario Party 8 (Wii)
Mario Golf (GCN)
Super Smash Bros: Melee (GCN)
Wii Sports (Duh)
Wii Play (Duh)
Rampage (Wii)
Mario Party 5 (GCN)

On my 360 I have: (as far as multiplayer games)
Gears of War
Perfect Dark: Zero

On my PS3 I have: (as far as any games)
Nothing (Just picked it up for $350)

Alright that's all I can think of right now. I'm pretty interested in 4 player, but 2 player is sufficient.

I was thinking Monster Madness: Battle in Suburbia(360), but it got "meh" reviews... I wasn't sure if it was a worthy purchase. Anyone play this game? I was also about to pick up Bomberman '93 on the VC, but I wanted a few opinions on that before I jump on that purchase.

Hopefully this will help other people out as well.

EDIT: I guess I'm writing this because I hold a "game night" at my house every friday night. And we're running low on fresh games to play.

As much as others probably won't agree with me:

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is one of the greatest games I have ever played for multiplayer. Get it for whatever system you want.

Hits Live Arcade tomorrow morning. Should be a blast.
    Unless it bombs.

    I'm sorry.

Bomberman Live drops on XBLA tomorrow and looks to rectify this problem immensely. I'd likely place it over the VC Bomberman '93 solely for functionality.

Wasn't there a buggy version floating around somewhere?

I don't know, but I've played it on X-box and 360. The 360 version is beautiful, and I had no problems with bugs, and it really was excellent for multiplayer.

Sweet, I might pick it up then. I'm sure I can find it cheap.

Calling All Cars on PS3 could potentially be great fun with 4 people. Super Stardust HD is also pretty cool, but it's only 2 player co-op.

Also, this might be obvious, but Guitar Hero 2 is so worth it.

Might be worth saving for Rock Band instead now though.

Is there a demo out for Calling All Cars? I'd like to try it before I buy it. Just in case, you know?

Even better yet the game will allow for EIGHT players to duke it out over Live, or FOUR players on one 360. One extremely interesting titdbit gained from a dev interview -- you can play with 4 of your friends on one 360 with 4 other people over Live.

Plus Live Vision Cam support, supposedly. Should be a laugh with some beerios.

    Edit; beat'd.

Yeah, I might have the guys chip in 30 a piece if I did end up getting Rock Band. So I'm not stuck paying $199+ for a game. :)

Okay, I concede it's only 4-player local, but it's also 8-player online multi. (Plus it's got viking bombermen.) The dual nature of offline and online multiplayer makes it a better buy overall, so this way it's enjoyable even outside of local play.

Also: Wario Ware for the Wii is enjoyable both hot-swapping the controller in the single-player mode and actually using the multiplayer modes, although you have to run through the single-player once to unlock it (maybe 2-3 hours tops).

EDIT: IIRC, Heavy Weapon on the XBLA is also four-player local and it's a fucking blast to play, even single-player.

Hmmm........ That's tough then. :) I don't think I have 4 360 controllers, but if it's a blast... It might just be worth it.

Ah I have Wario Ware, and we played that game to death. No one wanted to give it a shot, so it was a friend and I switching through the game. Was fun as hell though...

I'd just like to say something real quickly ...

Bomberman Live allows for you to take 4 local players online against 4 Live players.

This is confirmed in a dev interview. So you and your 3 buddies can be playing locally on your one 360 and go online against 4 others.
3- Give us all the Multiplayer Details for Bomberman Live, Locally/Online.

You can play with up to 4 people locally and up to 8-players over Live. You can also play with 4 players local against 4 players over Live. That’s going to make for some fantastic matches! There are also 20 leaderboards that allow you see how you stack up against the rest of the world over Xbox Live.

    http://thexboxdomain.net/2007/06/25/bomberman-live-developer-interview/

In the dev interview they did say they are aiming to make this the best Bomberman version ever ... and they are enthusiastic about providing add on maps down the road via the Marketplace)

Unfortunately Double Dash and Smash Bros won't be played much anymore... Since I completely dominate them each time. They kinda got sick of it. :P

Guitar Hero 2 is great for party situations. Lots of fun and anyone can play.

    How about Halo/Halo 2?

WarioWare: Smooth Moves I'd say is a must own, the multiplayer is great. Definitely my most played multiplayer Wii game.

Don't forget about Snowblind's co-op hack-and-slash games of last generation:

    Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
    Champions of Norrath
Champions of Norrath: Return to Arms

    are all three worth playing.

Phantasy Star Online for the Gamecube was 4-player split screen. If any other versions are it's news to me. Hard to find, but so very fun.

    I'll think about GH2.

Not worth 60. The humor is slightly off the mark and the part collection for weapons is a pain in the ass. Does have some good moments though.

I loved all those hack 'n slash games, brought my ps2 up to a friends cottage and we did when it rained or we were just tired...so much fun...also as some input into this threa, ummm the Halo's are always fun, speacially 2's customization in multi-player. doom was a good co-op game for the reg xbox, not sure if its BC though.
