This whole casual/hardcore thing is weird. I remember not too long ago when stuff like Halo, GTA, Madden, etc were considered casual frat boy games. Back then games that'd be like Trauma Center or WarioWare or Paper Mario were more niche titles. Now the whole thing is almost flipped, with the hardcore gamers looking forward to new big budget FPS games and the casuals jamming the quirky japanese titles. All of the labelling seems to be nonsense.

The labels make sense, but sometimes people misuse them, or confuse "mainstream" with "casual."

I cannot count the number of times I have heard "Casual" used to mean "I don't like this game" and "Hardcore" used to mean "I like this game"

    That's awful.

Oh yes it is. But I have definitely heard someone refer to Guitar Hero as "Hardcore" and then later call Wind Waker a "Casual kiddy game"

I swear to GOD, why does ANYONE get in an argument over this shit?

WHY DOES ANYONE GET INTO AN ARGUMENT WITH DEFENDER?!

    FUCKING RETARDS

I like my Wii, I have fun playing it. I would probably have fun playing a PS3 and XBOX 360 as well. Maybe more.

I enjoy the fact that I have actually lost a little weight playing video games. I wait for a real baseball sim on this, because I feel that would be a very challenging game, more so than 'time the button press' (which can get very easy on console baseball games.)

The novelty hasn't worn off yet for me. and I am happy with my purchase.

If you don't like one, don;t buy one. AND IF SOMEONE SAYS THEY DON'T LIKE ONE JESUS CHRIST JUST ACCEPT IT!

    And Vice versa.

So... I'm pretty excited about Corruption. Besides being excited about the game itself I'm hopping that it will show the true potential of the system and get developers off their asses.

Can't believe it's coming out next month.

Super Mario Galaxy looks like it will be pretty good too.

I'm really disappointed about Umbrella Chronicles. Even if it ends up being a good game, Capcom's attitude towards the Wii is pretty shitty. I don't get how they can say that RE4 style controls on the Wii would be too complicated given that the Wii edition of said game works great.

Tales of Symphonia 2 for the wii has left me with mixed feelings. On one hand, I hated the first game and wished that every person who went on about how deep all the characters are would die of cancer.

On the other hand, it opens the door for Tales of Legendia 2: Oresoren Stampede

It's mediocre. As the only available shooter on the system it has no competition to pale in comparison to.

Controls for running and shooting work really well. Controls for swordfights... not so much.

The game itself has mediocre presentation, a mediocre story and a mediocre setting. It's okay for a while but you could spend your time better I think.

If Rockstar does the motion controls as good as EA did the Godfathers, then it may be the best version out there.

Watch Gamespot's video review of Red Steel. You can see gameplay footage of the thing just fucking up all over the place, having bugs that no finished game should have, especially one that can't be patched.

FortyTwo, did you seriously lose weight by having to stand up and move your arms to play video games? Are you a REALLY overweight person who gets absolutely no exercise?

I never ran into any problems playing Red Steel. Multiplayer was a different story, though, because you had to hold the remote in a pretty stationary position to play.

I want a Wii, but I keep holding off.

I think if I got one, I'd want it almost soley for party games. I mean, I like metroid...I own Prime for gamecube...had the original NES version and everything, but I just feel like if I want to play a game like that in terms of mechanics, I'd want to do it on the 360 with Gears or something. This year's E3 left me really uninterested as well. I mean, I got my gamecube almost entirely for Mario Kart, and the Wii video left me feeling bored and burnt out, so I'm feeling pretty skeptical at this point.

Why would you not want to play an FPS(or First Person Adventure if you're Nintendo), on a system that is like... the perfect FPS system? I mean... instead of relying on an archaic analog stick to "aim", you just aim.

And there's also Strikers Charged and SSBB.

I...I don't know? I don't really feel like explaining it. I just know that when I get a Wii, it will be for party games only. There's not really a single thing that holds my interest about any of the other games, and sad to say, the lack of system power has a lot to do with this. I'm ready for the 360 and PS3 for my engrossing games. I want Mass Effect, Little Big Planet, Alan Wake, etc. The Wii is extremely appealing to me, but it doesn't really appeal to my hardcore gamer sense at all. I want one so I can play simple party games with my roommates. And honestly, I think this is a perfectly reasonable opinion, and I think a lot of people feel the same way, so I don't really need ya to give me this hard sell spiel.
