Any pretty (and good) games for the Wii?

I really want to buy RE4 for the Wii, but I've already played and beat it on another console. But I really want the game bacause of the price and because I really want a good looking game on the Wii. It upsets me that while the Wii is more powerful than all the previous gen consoles, it's general graphics all look equivalent to the PS1 and Dreamcast.

I don't people telling me to just get RE4. I'm asking for other games that look very good on the wii. I'd also like the game to actually be good, so that I'd actually buy it. Only suggest games that are out currently in America.

If graphics are your mainstay, then might I suggest another console?

Either way, Blur and Sonic are the two prettiest Wii games I own.

Oh snap! The games I own for the Wii (explanation at the end, also: I have a birthday a week after Christmas, so I get a TON of gift cards for Best Buy):

    Zelda: Twilight Princess
    Red Steel
    Elebits
    Rampage
    WarioWare
    Avatar
    Super Monkey Ball
    Resident Evil 4
    Mario Party 8
    Sonic
    Godfather
    Cooking Mama
    WiiPlay
    Rayman: Raving Rabbids
    Super Paper Mario

And the ones that are bolded are games I'd recommend to other people for one reason or another. I think that's a pretty damn good list if you ask me.

The limed ones look purdy. (Though Elebits is arguable, I think the game looks pretty however.)

Let me guess: the OP has an HDTV. I've got one, and even with the official Nintendo component cables RE4 looks jaggy as all hell, though maybe it's because I've got it running through a switcher box or something.

I think he meant PS2. I mean, is it really that hard to figure?

also, that zelda image isn't an ingame screenshot. the actual model looks a little worse.

It's not the component switcher, I have mine direct and it still looks kinda bad. Sonic is fairly good looking (though I don't like the game at all).

No, he meant PS1 ... it's hyperbole, not literal.

And literally speaking some Wii games look like PS2 games. Has something to do with them being lazy ports from the PS2 to the Wii.

Trauma Center is pretty (the operation graphics, anyway), and the new controls and operations made it worth a repurchase for me. It apparently doesn't do 16:9, though, and stretches the picture. That may be a problem if you have a widescreen TV.

I haven't even seen RE4 on the wii. I assumed from what I saw on the PS2 (and online pictures of the gamecube version) that it's still one of the best looking games on the wii.

I realized it was hyperbole... but I've heard so much about how "The Wii is just a gamecube with a new controller lol" and "The Wii looks liek my SNES" and "The Wii sucks wiitards" that I have a very short fuse when it comes to denouncing the Wiis graphics as terrible, terrible, terrible monstrosities.

I'm still assuming RE4 is a good looking game. Anything more techincally, omg poly pushing 3D graphics more pretty than RE4? And a good game? Ratatouille and transformers look good on the back of the box, but that doesn't say if they really do look good or if they're good games.

The only real reason for buying RE4 on the Wii isn't the graphics, as it only looks slightly better than the GCN version. The real reason is that RE4 is the first game since Elebits and Trauma Center that definitively proofs the Wii's controls. It just plain plays better than either the GCN or PS2 version. I couldn't go back.

The first real proof of the Wii's graphical muscle doesn't come out until Galaxy drops. This is pretty normal, however, as you didn't really see a PS2 game that looked better than a Dreamcast game until MGS 2 dropped a year + after launch. What you are mainly seeing now are either high end GCN graphics (SPM, TP, RE4, Elebits) or worse, shitty PS2 upgrades (Scarface, Godfather, a dozen other games)

Corruption could go either way. I think it will lean more in the direction of Wii level graphics than just high end GCN graphics.

Eh so this thread's confirming the same thoughts I've had about Wii games so far. Anyone have any input about the graphics and [worth buying full price] for:

    Transformers
    Ratatouille
    Godfather
    Surf's Up
    ... Chicken Shoot

I can look up other sites, but I still value G&T's opinion on games.

    Going by Metacritic:
    Transformers: 59
    Ratatouille: 65
    Godfather: 77
    Surf's Up: 62
Chicken Shoot: Only three reviews: 63, 25, 20

Of those, you'd probably only want to play Godfather, which apparently is better than reviews give it credit for. And it looks like ass, as a ported PS2 game. Honestly, if you want a pretty game you haven't played yet, you'll probably have to pick a different platform.

    Edit: Played Odin Sphere yet?

The Godfather didn't look so hot, but in all fairness I did put it down after 20 minutes of play once Forza 2 came out. I'm also of the opinion that a title like God Hand -- a game with batshit crazy atmosphere and wicked badass gameplay to compensate for the mediocre graphics -- is exactly what would make me happy to own a Wii, so your mileage may vary.

Here are the Wii games I own and/or have played and my reactions:

    Zelda Twilight Princess
This game is a lot of fun, but I haven't finished it. It's very derivative of all the other 3D Zeldas out there and I really don't feel like it adds anything new to the mix. Basically, if you've played an eariler, pre-Wind Waker Zelda, this one has better graphics. It is fun nonetheless.

    Excite Truck
Fun to drive around and do different things, but it's a very delicate control. This is an entertaining racing game, even if you're a noob or dislike racers. It's overpriced, though.

    Wario Ware
Lots of minigames that are cute. The "baton" theme is quite an amusing addition. IS fun at parties.

    Wii Sports
Best game, but seriously needs more boards for golf.

    Wii Play
The only good game here is tanks and that is best in multiplayer. For $10 though, it's good.

    Trauma Center
If you can get past all the Japanimation crap, this is an interesting game; I haven't gotten past the part where you have to get kidneystones out of the patient though. And setting the bone is impossible.

    Super Paper Mario
DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU DID NOT LIKE PAPER MARIO RPG OR THOUSAND YEAR DOOR. In fact, go get Thousand Year Door for the GameCube on the cheap and play that first; if you like it, this game is for you; if you didn't like it, don't buy this game.

    Elebits
The game is cute and is fun, but after a while it gets repetitive and as many have said, it truly feels like a tech demo. Only get this at a discount price.

    Raving Rabbids
I had the most fun with this game; it has a ton of variation. You can get it without feeling guilty.

    Godfather: Black Hand
This game is essentially GTA with a Godfather skin on it and Wii controls. Does a passable job as a FPS at times, but otherwise the entirety gets repetitive with harder opponents. It's fun if you've never played GTA or if you enjoy the Godfather movies. Worth buying.

Games I have not purchased or played and why

    Super Monkey Ball: Blitz
I have heard only bad things about this game in comparison to Wario Ware and Rabbids

    Resident Evil 4
I own the GC original and have not yet tried this game; would consider buying it at $20 or less.

    The Bigs
I would like to know if the Wii controls are any good and if it's worth it.

    Cooking Mama
I have the DS version and it's dull. Would probably pick up at a bargain price.

    Tiger Woods
I have heard good things but I need more encouragement. Plus, golf isn't my game.

    Madden 07 / 08
Is there any difference between 07 and 08? How are the Wii controls? I've heard good things in the reviews, but again need more encouragement.

    Games I am Waiting For

    No More Heroes
There is a lot of hype around this game; I will wait to see if it lives up to it before buying.

    Alien Syndrome
    I loved the original.

    Battalion Wars 2
I have the original and will wait to see if this actually improves on it or if it is simply more of the same.

    Call of Duty 3
32 player combat on the Wii!

    Manhunt 2
    Dammit.
