Painting and Gaming: Consoles, Controllers, anything

So, I've decided that I'm going to spray pait all my shit.
My 360 and it's controllers, my GH2 controllers, and my Zune.
I am going to use Krylon Fusion paint, which is spray paint for plastics.
There are guides oline for custom painting GH guitars already but not much in the way of consoles.
For 360, al you need is Here.
It shows you how to safely and easily open a 360 and the rest is pretty basic.
Choose a paint, do one or two layers, and let it dry for a decent time frame.
I also have guides on how to open the guitars and my Zune, so I just need a little help.

1) Is this paint safe for the tempature the 360 might reach? It won't start a fine will it?
2) The 360 guide does not show if the guts are mounted on the plastic (Which it very likely is). Is it a danger to the parts to remove it fully from the case?
3) I know this shit voids my warranty, so is it more worthwhile to send it to a professional?

Thanks, and post your custom jobs here.

I find paintjobs on video game stuff to almost always look like gaudy crap, unless they were done by a pro on one of those case mod sites or something.

Since you aren't mentioning sanding, or priming....I would recomend sending it to a professional.

Yeah, I am starting to lean that way since I have no idea what I'm doing.
    But it's so damn expensive...

There are places that will do a console for a hundred bucks. You could easily spend 40 on the right stuff to do it yourself.

I have painted a few PC cases, and just take my word on it, it's NOWHERE near as easy as it looks. Once you get the hang of it, it's awesome to have personalized gear like that, but you don't want to wreck your gear learning how.

All the amateur paintjobs I've seen posted here before have looked really shitty, except when they got it done by a professional. If you don't think you really know what you're doing, I'd strongly recommend not trying to do it yourself.

Man, I was getting all excited.
    Oh well.
Now to find someone who will do this on the cheap.

I wouldn't think it would be too difficult. When I was re-doing a bathroom, I used some Plasti-kote spray to colour the plastic fittings (light switch, extractor vent cover, etc.) to blend in with the walls. It looked pretty good, and the finish was smooth.

All I did prep-wise was clean them in warm water with detergent, then sprayed them in a series of light coats.

It couldn't hurt to pull apart an old controller or something and give it a try. Actually, I have a broken dualshock I could use as a guinea pig. Hmmm.

That is a very good idea.
I have a shitty PC controller I care not about that is ready to be torn and painted.
If it goes well, I may proceed to bigger and better things.

I bought like Ten 5 dollar usb mice, and practiced on them till I got the hang of it, my first attempt still failed and I spent a few days sanding it off before trying again.

If you don't mind my asking, what tools are needed and what paint do you use?
I still am iffy on the whole thing.

Krylon paint for plastics, krylon primer for plastics, sandpaper (500 grit to 2000 grit and everything in between) painters tape, exacto knife and and a painting stand.

Google around for some how-to's on PC case mods, their are some GREAT walkthroughs for how to paint, that's where I learned, that and a dude named Yoshi who used to do mods on TechTV
