I asked Accault if it would be ok for me to post this as I didn't want to appear to be site whoring.
I just finished up an interview at MSXBOX-WORLD with Bill Fulton from FASA Studios looking at Shadowrun post release and examining some of the complaints regarding the game from the mainstream press.
We also looked at the difficulties getting stuff certified not only on Live but also on the PC version of Live -- and the massive delay's that this can cause. I found it somewhat interesting to note that cross platform titles seem to face alot more hurdles getting patches pushed through mainly because of red tape.
Some gamers have experienced issues with online play such as disconnects and lengthy wait times to get into games, how quickly are we likely to see any kind of fix?
We've had fixes for many problems within a few weeks of launch, but we've had delays in getting those fixes through the LIVE certification process.
These delays are one of the pain points of being first on a platform (Games for Windows LIVE on Vista). The GfW LIVE folks are ironing out their processes with Shadowrun & Halo 2 (PC). Hopefully, these processes will get more efficient soon for future updates and games.
Unfortunately we were hoping to find out more about upcoming DLC for Shadowrun but our hopes were dashed. Even more heartbreaking was the lack of an answer regarding Crimson Skies 2. But hey at least they didn't deny it.
I completely forgot all hopes for a Crimson Skies sequel, and now I want one. NOW.
And you'd think that the Xbox Live certification process would be faster by now... Haven't other devs complained about how long it takes?
Yeah that's why I slipped in the Crimson Skies reference. WANT.
As for Xbox Live Certification I believe in the interview they were blaming the PC version of Live certification as being the reason that patches for Shadowrun have been so slow coming out. From what I understand, the 360 versions of the patch are ready to go, but the PC one's are lost somewhere in certification hell.
