Little tiny flies...

So my roommates had left a portion of rotten fruit in the garbage longer than they should have, and it attracted some bugs. No big deal, take it out to the dumpster and the flies will go with, right? Not so much.

So now we have a small population of little tiny flies that will not go away. The bulk of their society has taken root in the kitchen near our trash can, but there are a few that hang out in my bedroom, I don't have any food sitting out to sustain them, so I don't know what they're feeding on.

I've also seen then hanging out near the air vents in my room and my bathroom. So I guess it's possible that they are living in the ducts.

I don't know of a good product to use to attract and kill these fuckers. Suggest away!

Well theres the first saying you catch more flies with honey then vinegar(spelling?). My parents used to put a jar lid of honey out and flies would land on it and sink down and drown, it might work but its a bit messy.

I think most bug sprays will get rid of flies. The trick is it usually takes a little while to actually completely clear them out. Just keep the area clean and spray it with bug spray every couple of days, and they'll slowly start to go away.

From what I was told most flies don't have a very long lifespan, so just keep at it for a little while and should be all clear

Those tiny little flies are called fruit flies, if they're small enough for you to completely squish between two fingers easily. And you're basically going to have to properly clean that area and disinfect all of it, because any sugary residue anywhere will provide more than enough food for them. With no food for them to live on, they'll die off soon enough.

sounds like they laid eggs... eww

any general bug spray will work, make sure you go over the vents in your bathroom and bedroom regularly till they are gone, and make sure not to leave any food out.
