I never beat my GameCube copy of RE4, and I've been neglecting my Wii*. Would RE4 Wii still be a must-buy? I find the premise of actually aiming at the screen spectacular, yet I've heard there are some goofy, multi-button combo presses that must be done to do the most simple of actions.
You already have the Cube version. May as well play it to see if you like it. Then maybe sometime later you can pick up RE4 Wii. But it's only $30 anyway, so you may want to jump on it now.
And it's a game that you'll want to play through multiple times. I know I have. About 4 times now.
Oh, I know I love the game, I just got stuck on a (fairly early) bossfight, with next to no ammo, and pushed it aside out of frustration.

I honestly have no idea what "multi-button combo presses" exist in the game; everything's seamless, and the controls are nigh flawless. If you like the on-screen aiming -- and you should! -- then it's a must-buy, especially since you can buy it for $30 and you can likely find someone to buy your GC copy for $10 to $15 nowadays.
It's not quite like other Wii FPSes because there's no bounding box around the screen to turn; you move your head left/right/up/down with the nunchuck analog while aiming with the Wiimote. It sounds odd at first, but this means you can aim left while turning right and vice versa, plus you can turn while aiming a lot faster than you ever could in the GC version, which makes you about 10 times as deadly. Oh, and the shooting gallery is a complete cakewalk because of the accuracy.
And even if for some alien reason you hate the Wii aiming, you can still plug in a GC controller and play the game exactly as it was two years ago, only with widescreen and the PS2 extras. I was really surprised at how much extra content is in Separate Ways! I can't recommend the game enough to RE4 fans in particular.
Rather than start a new thread: has anyone had any graphical problems since the latest update?
I haven't played the Wii in months and for the most part it has been off, but I've noticed some rather glaring black lines and jagged graphic edges on the main Wii menu. It's not noticeable on other screens, but it's still disheartening to see.
I heard the Wii overheats when you leave it in "standby" mode (light on power button is yellow). Like, the Wii is off and its fan is off, but it's still kinda running... and the fan is off, so.... possibility for overheating and graphical problems?
I thought Wii Tennis was the best of the Wii Sports offerings. Especially doubles co-op. Split screen can go to hell, and I like laying the smack down on some AI bitches with my friends.

That could be it. I left it like that for a month and a half (while playing), but I've left it completely unplugged since then. That's pretty bad design flaw if all it takes to damage the card is a month.

I love the idea behind Wii Connect 24, so I'm going to burn out Wiis until they send me back one that can handle the function in time for it to be fully implemented.
Edit: Although I'll probably buy one of those fans for it this week.
I adore RE4 but, pansy that I am, I gotta point out that it is tough as nails...mostly due to the control scheme. But it's still a killer play...as long as you don't have anger issues.
Well the only place where you'll get pissed off is in the house... You'll know which one
This probably won't need to be spoiler tagged, as there are alot of houses.

This is a lie. The controls are absolutely fantastic, and actually make the game much easier than it's counterparts on other systems. When it is difficult, it's because it's a difficult game (though it never really takes more than two or three tries to get past any really tough part).

Mans, I leave my WiiConnect24 on all the time and my Wii hasn't gotten that problem at all.

Is it ok that I leave mine in the microwave on "high" at all times?
I have never been a fan of the old Zelda games, I think my complaint was the simplistic hack and slash element... However, TP looks like it is pretty cool. Is it worth the chance for someone who isn't well versed in previous Zelda games?
What? Hack n' Slash? Where? I thought we were talking about Zelda. Other than Zelda II for NES, has Zelda ever been a franchise with much combat? Zeldas have the majority of their marbles in the puzzle category as far as I'm concerned.

RE4 isn't hard at all. It's even easier on the Wii.

Zeldas stopped being combat heavy when they transitioned to 3d.
BEfore then, it was very commont o walk into a room and have to deal with like ten knights.

Let's play Mario Kart or something...
I bought The Godfather: Blackhand Edition a couple days ago on a whim. I have to say, I was very pleasently surprised. The motion controls they used are great, and I'm finding the game quite fun overall so far.
Seriously, when did EA start releasing good games?
I'm still playing WiiTennis. But I am going to get RE4 and TP when I am bored enough with WiiSports that I can justify the need to actually buy games for the system. Which actually may take some time, since I'm at my parents house for the summer, and my da was like "Hey we should get another remote so more of the family can play at one time", and I answered by saying "WiiPlay comes with one"... so more minigames will be coming...

They have really been on the ball with Wii, I don't know how that happened.

I got it a few weeks ago, and at first I was supremely disappointed that it was a GTA clone and the motions weren't too intuitive, so I shelved it for a couple of days. Then I came back, and holy fuck it clicked. Once you figure out the motions, everything feels 10 times better than pressing a button.
Being able to go up to a person, grab him with your left hand, push him down to his knees, and then punch him across the face repeatedly with your right hand, all without pressing a single button makes the game so fucking awesome.
and the ability to aim while running is great. Really a superb game.

RE4:Wii's controls are fucking glorious. They are not only an improvement for accuracy, they generally make the game more fun, because it's so quick and easy to shoot what you want to shoot.
I can't believe how much of a badass I am a the merchant's shooting gallery.

I assume Torso meant it's hard because of the tank-style movement controls, which is just how RE is. The first thing you need to learn to do well in RE4 is that you can't run-and-gun; you need to be slow and thorough to keep your back clear and keep enemies at a distance. If you get too impatient or careless you'll be surrounded and then you're pretty fucked.

So there is no way to turn the Wii off completely? I just got one last week and was wondering about that. I have to unplug the damn thing?!
Don't get Mario Strikers Charged Football though, everyone touted it as the best thing since sliced bread, actually the game is so broken it is literally unplayable.
The only game I know to actually punish you for being skillful at a game (other than Mario Kart DS).

Turning the Wii off - A tutorial:
So you have enjoyed playing the Wii, and have decided to follow it's suggestion and take a break and go play oustide.
WiiConnect24 Standby off:
Turn off the console by holding the power button on the wiimote
OR
Push the console power button
Full off:
Hold the console power button until it turns red
Also, it's not like the standby is just shutting the fan off and the console is still on. In standby the only components that are still operating are a basic low-power CPU and the wifi CPU. WiiConnect24 only really checks to see if you have a new message every so often, and perhaps updates your Mii Parade. It's not running anything huge - though I would love if it would download updates so all I had to do was install them when I turn it on.
Side note reiteration:
I've been using WiiConnect24 on my launch Wii and have had no problems. I really wouldn't fear it as even if you do get some problems, it's Nintendo, they'll fix it and return it to you before MS could get you a coffin.

Wii Tenis is gay.
Wii Boxing is fun.... but pretty weird to control.
Wii Golf is very mediocre.
and Fuck baseball games.
Did I mention Wii Bowling is sweet?
That sounded gay.

What bothers me about the Wii isn't the expense of more console games... but the time it takes to play them
No, it's not out yet, it's just that it will be eventually.

I think the gameplay would be worse off if you could do typical 'third person shooter' maneuvers.
