All's I know is I can't wait until he gets to the "glitch."

    What glitch is this?

Walnutmon, it sounds like you just suck at Zelda. No offence, and maybe being new to the series has something to do with it, but if you get stuck on the first dungeon, you may as well just give up, because things get awful tough later on.

Also, just give RE4 some time. After playing the GC version to death, I thought I had made a mistake in buying the Wii Edition the first time I tried it. It just didn't work. After about a half hour, though, it made perfect sense, and I now realize the game is so much better than it was.

No it doesn't. It expects you to explore and analyze your environment. In a room, you're given a spider that explodes a short while after being struck, and you have a conspicuous-looking rock. You don't need a tutorial to put 2 and 2 together.

Not many games these days actually do that, though. I can see how a first time Zelda player would get hung up on it.

Basic rule of Zelda: Try everything on everything. After a while it'll become pretty obvious to you what to do in different situations, Zelda has a number of tells that aren't obvious unless you've played before.
And once you HAVE played before, it feels like the game is slapping you across the face and screaming "BLOW ME UP!". Its puzzles manage to be both insultingly obvious once you're familiar with the series and completely nonsensical or dumb if you're not (WTF? Why the hell would using a glowfly's ass to light a torch open a locked door in dungeon? [note: generic example. As far as I know, that exact thing has not occured in a Zelda game. Yet]). That's one of my biggest gripes about the whole series (and I have quite a few of those).

Granted, but from this thread, the two I mentioned were pretty much universally praised as the finest games the system has to offer, in terms of single player action anyways.

The worst part is, that they are.

Don't let the sales fool you. Wii titles are really only a short step above the PS3. The only draw in favor of the former is price. If you really want a next gen console, get a 360. If you already have one, I'd save my money.
Judging from my thread, it seems Godfather is the next "mainstream" choice. Based on what types of games you play, excite truck might be a better good buy.

I turned on Wii Play on my lunch break, you have to beat the mini games to get to play the next ones... are there any games on there worth unlocking?

One of the more illogical Zelda puzzle solutions is lighting all the torches in the room. Just keep that in mind in case you're stuck somewhere and there are unlit light sources there.

    The last one.

Wii play + wii sports is a good "teaching" combo. Wii sports uses only motion control. Wii play uses the infrared camera.

Wii Play is GREAT for people who can't use the pointer at first. My girlfriend's sister was hopeless with the pointer, it was all over the spot, but after a few games on Wii Play she was much better.

If you enjoyed Wii Sports, try Excite Truck. Oh and if you like the golf one then Pangya Golf (or whatever the name is) is a little bit more fleshed out than Wii Golf. Not brilliant, but fun if you can get it cheap.

I had a bit of trouble with Zelda in the first dungeon, being I was pretty new to the Zelda scene (I played the SNES one briefly but that was YEARS ago), got passed the first dungeon but it's sat rather unplayed since around Xmas time somewhere in the second dungeon. It's allright but personally I found it a tad dull. And it may sound a daft complaint but the sound effects gave me a headache.

Alot of people I know had trouble on the first dungeon, then pretty much just breezed through the rest of the game. They hadn't played Zelda titles before or hadn't played in a while. You just need to get into the Zelda mindset, then you'll be fine.

I'd try to pick it up, as it gets a bit more interesting after that.

Then again, this is coming from someone who's been leaving it sit with a save at the arbiters? (desert) area since January. But I have an excuse: I became a daddy and since then I can't just sit down and play for a while. Short games like MP8 and Sports are more easily playable.

There's a pretty high possibility that could happen to me soon, I best the game out of the way! That said, at the moment I find I don't have time to sit down and play long winded games. At least I tell myself that then in the last few weeks I've managed to put about 8 hours in to Super Paper Mario, that's a lot for me!
