Did they fix that problem where every enemy and ally will mostly do nothing except circle each other, minus generals? Oh and the whole you're the only damn hope for your entire army, even if you out number then 2 to 1.
(I love the series but please please please koei fix these.)
I suggest you look into the latest Empires game for the 360. The troops in that are actually pretty vicious. I've been juggled/comboed way too many times in that game.
Well, almost sold me. How do the skills and equipment work? Is there any? I hated the equipment bit from DW4 but I loved the skill system from SW1 and the weapons with random attributes from DW3 and 5. Any idea how they work?
I'm still on the fence about this one. All the metacritic reviews were around 50%. All the complaints were about the missions/levels being the same, but what do you expect from a Dynasty Warriors game? I did like the demo, so maybe I should check it out sometime soon.

I finished the Mobile Suit Gundam campaign (4 missions) and 2 missions of Domon's campaign on normal last night.
Space battles are weird. Enemies move around on a 3D plan until you get with in a certain distance of them, at which time they all rise up to the character's plane to beat the hell out of him/her. They're the weakest part of the game as they just flat out look weird and play weirder (as terrain that looks like its blocking on the minimap usually won't).
The Field mechanic is a lot of fun, and actually lead to some pitched fights. Enemy generals will actually take fields down and usually behave much more intelligently than they did in SW2: Empires. Char, in particular, is a sonofabitch and will wreck your shit. Even normal enemy units can take smaller fields, and due to the way fields interact with each other (a large field is immensely weakened if the smaller fields around it are taken) I can see the game having a lot more Versus potential than the previous Warriors games.
Leveling up seems much slower, as two items are gaining levels: the Gundam and the pilot. The Gundam's level is what determines access to Musou (you unlock level 2 Musou at mech level 5, I think). In addition, True Musou only seems to be accomplishable during team supers. Equipment is actually important as now there's equipment vendors (characters like Rain, and Bright) and the more equipment you have from a single vendor the more effective that equipment is. Two items from the same vendor double effectiveness, three (the maximum) triple that effectiveness. Each vendor specializes in certain areas, so whereas one guy will get lots of armor another will get lots of attack items.
Graphically, so much better than previous Warrior games it's not even funny. While the enemy count is never at, say, N3 levels it's still about triple the number of onscreen enemies as SW2: Empires. Comboing is much more difficult, as well, but once you get a handle on the boost system you can do 20-hit combos relatively easily.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with the game. Bought it for $60, and considering the 2 player potential in the game, totally worth it.
I picked up the 360 version because it supported 1080p and because I thought I'd get achievements with it. However, it doesn't look like it supports Live in any way, shape, or form. I'm thinking I should have picked up the PS3 version instead...
I'm liking it a lot. The art style is awful, the levels are ugly and bland, I miss finding weapons and that's about all the bad I can say about it.
The mook enemies are even more worthless this time around unless you're fighting an Ace. Since they brought back the Stagger effect for laser shots, they can really screw you up in the middle of a combo.
The Engineer and Same Type bonuses you get from equipping parts is pretty cool but I wish there were more parts or legendary parts or something. I don't know that there's not but I don't they'd be unique to each character like the old Legendaries in DWs past.
The Field System is REALLY cool. I love it. You finally have a reason to stop and mop up baddies now on the way to your next Ace fight. And the Ace fights themselves are hard as hell. I'm no Dynasty Warriors slouch but we had to switch to easy and we were STILL failing missions. AND we were playing two players! Some of these missions have so much going on I can't imagine you could do them as one player. I think some of the campaigns must have multiple mission paths; I know of one mission where we changed what we did and the objectives changed from what we had played before (and failed).
I have no knowledge of Gundam whatsoever but some of these robots are pretty damn cool. Millotico's (or whatever his name is) is super awesomely awesome; it's a big demon thing. We unlocked Haman and her mobile suit, the Quebeley and my god that woman kicks some serious ass. The friend I was playing with is terrible at action games and even worse at fighting games and she was EASILY outperforming me with that mech.
I like the multiple level Special Attacks but I miss being able to charge them up like the other DWs. I'm also not too fond of your mech being changed in the middle of some of the Original Mode campaigns; you spend 2 or 3 mission levelling up one mech and getting parts for it and all of a sudden they make you switch to a new level 1 mech with no parts. For the HARDEST MISSION. Kind of annoying. I know it's trying to stay true to the story and all but come on.
And I agree, Space Battles are just weird. My friend liked them because you can fly around easier but they just...feel.... odd.
Oh and BOOSTING!! OH MY GOD SO MUCH FUN!! I totally love using the mechs with a high thruster score and just flying around the levels. It's like you have the fastest horse in DW right in your pocket and, when you take him out, he's on fire. Love it, love it, love it.
All in all tho it;s pretty damn fun, especially with 2 players. Makes me even more excited for Warriors Orochi.

The hardest mission was Jaburo. Sweet Christ. Second level, millions of enemies, Char (who does redonkulous damage in the Z'Gok), AND you have to boost EVERYWHERE. I beat it solely because I saved both Hayato and Kai before the zomg wave of doom showed up. There's no earthly reason, that I can see, for just why that mission is so damned hard.
A Baoa Qu is a pain in the ass, too. You have to kill so much crap, so quickly or you lose. 2 player will be a lot of fun, though.
Is Warriors Orochi coming out on 360? If so, I'll buy it sometime in December. Lu Bu + Keiji Maeda for the goddamned win.

We played Haman's mode last night too, unlocking Char (who is Quattro? Or something?), and holy hell that was tough. I fly to the first field and there were FIVE FUCKING ACES there. I had to run like a bitch.
Orochi will be out for the 360. 79 characters? yes, please

In Z Gundam, Char took up the name Quattro Vagina. I wish I was kidding, really I do.
79 characters.... That's like Warrior porn. Who the fuck is going to unlock all of that stuf?

We did Killian's(?) mission and I played Char and for some reason they renamed him Quattro. I had no idea what was going on.
We finished off Official Mode last night and moved on to Original.
Which SUCKS. We made it to the last field with the super special Boss gundam and he killed me with one hit after playing that damn level almost an hour. RRR

I've been doing Domon's campaign and I can't protect the Big Tray on the last level in single player. It's like "olo 2 dudes with ridiculous health. GG!" and I'm like "Fuck you too, Koei. Fuck you too."

I just can't see anyone finishing these missions alone. We are STRAPPED as it is. Short of maxing out levels I don't see how it can be done. But, then, maybe that's what we need to do. I think we'll switch to Normal or Hard to get some better items and just grind on some of the earlier levels.
Big Tray as in, enormous EFSF super tank from the assault on Odessa. Not that obscure, as it's in every single other Gundam game I've ever seen barring Senjo no Hizuna.
Pink, doing it solo isn't as hard as you think. In 2 player mode, I'm pretty sure they actually increase the number of Fields and enemies. Don't get me wrong, it's still an enormous bitch, but really only frustrating when there's multiple extremely tough Aces around.

If they do that's pretty cool. I think we also need to stop splitting up most of the time. Whenever we do, inevitably, I get surrounded by 5 aces and I'm always playing the level 1 guy.

So is this game worth sixty bucks or should I wait a while?

COOL DEMON GUNDAM IS PLAYABLE OMG
Though when your disguise is replacing your helmet-mask with shades...
Also, seriously, worst kept secret identity ever. Char was just fooling himself in that entire series.
That and who the fuck would name their child Quattro Vagina? That constitutes cruel and unusual punishment, I'm pretty sure.
That letter's all sorts of awesome, but why the highlight? Quattro admits he's Char during the fight for Jaburo, I think.
I wonder if they'll make a Gundam:Xtreme Legends?
I'd kill for Gundam: Empires with all the G Gundam and Wing casts. UC v. Wing v. G. Hell goddamn yes.
Romance of the Three Mecha?

That's amazingly obscure.
Why? The Big Tray is in a bunch of missions.

Only if you have a fanatical love of Dynasty Warriors. Otherwise, wait.
