I sold my Wii, and I know a few others who sold there own. In fact in my local area that I live in I know more people who have sold them then kept them. Eventually some games will come out for it that are worth it but for now it is pretty blank.

Out of curiosity, why did y'all bother buying Wiis in the first place? It's not like there are some how less games out now than there were before.

Well I can't speak for my friends (from what they told me they said it was to much of a gimmick, they went back to playing there 360s and PS3s afterwards) personally I just didn't like it. The controls on all of the 8 games I played were not solid. Developers are not taking advantage of the controller properly and are focusing on making everything use the motion sensing when in fact that doesn't work well. I think everyone here really wants to get brawl, but when it comes out will you seriously be using a Wii control scheme or a Classic/Gamecube controller.

I think you misread my question.
I don't care what you didn't like about the Wii. That's your perogative.
What I'm wondering is why you went out and spent a couple hundred dollars on the system in the first place before trying it out, etc. That just doesn't make sense to me.

I like to call it the trick of the Wii. You go to a friends house and play the Wii, and you fucking love it. You think to yourself 'Jesus! How could this ever get any better then it already is!?'. You pop over to a store and pick up a Wii, buy two games and before the second day is over you have beaten both of them. You rush out the store and pick up another game and it takes about a day to beat it as well. Then, you trade with your other friends who bought Wii games but refuse to buy anymore for fear of not having them last at all. Then, you pick up another console (in my case it was a PS3) and you have friends come over who were interested in the Wii at one point. But now, all they want to play is the PS3. Multiplayer games? PS3. Single player games? PS3. Any extra content or features like surfing the web on your TV, PS3. The console to me was great when I bought it, but after that initial one week of fun it got old REAL fast.

So, what you're saying is that you tend to spend large sums of money without taking any tiem to consider the purchase?
I don't see any failing on the Wii's behalf here, it just seems to me like you never bothered to look into whether or not you'd really want the system before you ran out to buy it.
Evander you arent going to convince Vicious of anything. The fact that he bemoans the Wii's lack of games yet slobbers all over the PS3 (which has even less games) should be a telling enough sign.

I'm not trying to convince him of anything.
The PS3 thing amuses me though, that "all of his friends" love it, like that anectdote means anything. Personally, I only know one person who even owns one, and honestly, he almost seems ashamed of it. He also owns a Wii, of course, which he plays a lot more.

My roomate has one, although the only game he has is Resistance.
I played it once for like an hour and havent picked it up again since.

Yeah, it was my old roommate who had one. He never even bothered to bring it in to the paratment; he just kept it t his parents' house.
I played it once, I forget the game, but I spent most of my time shazing the controller to see if anything would happen, and being dissappointed.
Because other than the remote the tech specs are near identical to the gamecube. And now you have the situation where most of the Wii titles just tack on the new control scheme or just ignore it altogether. So until they start actually using the remote they've essentially found a way to sell gamecubes for $250.

That's like saying that because some DS games don't use the touchpad, Nintendo found a way to sell GBAs for $130.

Wait, the specs have actually been released?
Because last I heard, the Wii was still Gamecube 1.5, not Gamecube 1.0.

No because even games that don't utilize the touchpad still have wifi capabilities (and no, the Wii has next to no uses for its wifi, other than to throw down more money for NES games) and the DS also has tech specs that are pretty obviously superior to the gba.

Redded for BS. The vast majority of games for the DS don't use the wifi capabilities. How long did it take for the first multiplayer online game to be released for the DS? The Wii has the use of the wifi for online multiplayer in games.
A lot of the games originally released for the DS were practically GBA ports. As time went on, developers made better use of the two screens and the touch screen.

And even if that is true, you can't deny that the main selling point for the Wii has always been the control scheme, which is actually the least represented feature on the console to date.

No, the least represented features on the console are online multiplayer and wiiconnect24. The control scheme is used in pretty much every game.

Seriously, what games don't use the motion control, besides we think SSBB(I've heard conflicting reports on this).
Any? Are there any Wii games that don't use the motion control? Some may not use it well because it's still a new system, and devs aren't used to developing for it. But considering every game save probably one in the future that we know about use the controls I really don't see how anyone can say that the control scheme isn't represented.

The tech specs are near identicle to the cube? I thought it was more powerful than the cube, maybe not twice as powerful, but still more powerful.
Seriously, a game doesn't have to tack on gimmicks in order to justify being on a console that has certain features. Remember when ever DS game under the sun had dumb stylus things thrown in? Then some games realized that they didn't need to use the stylus or mic unless they wanted to, and suddenly we got amazing games that had a versitile way of being controlled, but didn't require you to use dumb controls when they really weren't needed.
Brawl is supposedly an online game. That alone justifies it being on the Wii rather than the Gamecube, since the Gamecube didn't have an online infrastructure. Your point doesn't make sense, saying Brawl could have been on the cube, if only for the reason of online.

As far as I'm aware, the Gamecube has identical online capabilities as the PS2, developers just never bothered to program them into games and create servers.

What's this bullshit about the Wii being hardly more powerful than the Gamecube? Have you guys seen the videos of Super Mario Galaxy? Just because a lot of the early games were rushed and/or lazy doesn't say anything about the system's capabilities.

This is where most of the "Nintendo is teh bad graffix" comes from.
I seem to recall some sort of tech analysis that indicated the Wii was more than Cube x 1.5, but damn if I can find it at this point.
And hell, just compare screenshots of, say, Zelda in Smash Bros. Melee with Zelda in Brawl. There's a very big difference.

The Wiimote only controls probably have a decent amount of waggle. The other three? Not so much.
Anyways, this is ridiculously off topic, as Smash has nothing to do with Sony, little to Europe, and only a minor relationship to "lol Sony"
