Many of us are very excited about Wing Commander Arena being released on XBLA this Wednesday. It turns out that alongside Wing Commander: Arena, we are also going to see the classic Super Contra!!!
Super Contra will cost 400 points and includes features such as:

-Two gameplay modes: single player or two player co-op, either locally on the same Xbox 360 or over Xbox LIVE
-Players can choose to play with either the original graphics or the enhanced graphics
-Compete for the weekly and all time high scores on the Leaderboards
-Earn up to 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore

Super Contra is a great title and will make another nice edition to the rapidly growing XBLA roster of retro hits. How many of you are willing to pay 400 points to relive the glory days of old school gaming?

If co-op does not have lag issues then I see myself playing this.

Fun fact: game was re-named to Super Probotector in Europe & had robots instead of soldiers as the heros.

Wait, so is this Super C aka contra 2, or Contra 3 the alien wars?

Judging from the massive performance problems that Contra suffered from, I would be really really REALLY hesitant to pick this up before some reviews are thrown out there.

hah! i knew i'd played Contra somewhere before, and it wasn't just a knock-off. Gryzor for the nostalgic win.

If it looks ANYTHING like the Contra that's already on the XBLA then I'll spit on it.

Seriously... That game was awful, and I'd rather play the NES version (which reigns supreme in my opinion).

Would that be the same brand of European craziness that turned the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles and gave Michaelangelo a grappling hook?

    ... the hell?

Why would they only change Michaelangelo's weapons??? Surely they'd change the bladed ones first...

He had the nunchaku for a while but never used them. They were eventually replaced by the grappling hook. I believe nunchaku are censored in all media in Europe (or maybe just the UK), even from 18+ rated movies.

I don't get the hating on the XBLA Contra. I thought it was great... the superior arcade version, playable as much as I like? Yes please.

They hate violence on TV over there, but they sure do looooove boobies!

I am puzzled as to why our heroes Bill and Lance were roboticized for EU, however. Probably to avoid human deaths. Alien killing is encouraged, however.

The co-op mode was ridiculously broken when it first came out, dunno if they ever fixed it with a patch or not.

    Single player was fun though.

I managed to play Contra coop twice before giving up due to massive lag issues. Have they patched Contra yet to fix this? If not, why would I buy a second game when the first was so broken and left as is?
