Main index lags behind?

Been wondering about this for a while now:

If I go to the main index ( http://forums.penny-arcade.com/index.php ), and then click on the "Last Post" button for a particular subforum, it will take me to a random page somewhere in the middle of that thread, instead of the actual "last post" as listed.

For example, I just refreshed and clicked on the "Star Wars: 30 years of Lightsabers, Space Ships and not understanding Wookie-talk" thread title that was listed in the main index under the D&D subforum header, and that took me to page 15 of 17.

Doing it in the "[Phalla]Democratic File System: And The Winner Is..." from the "Of Dice and Men" subforum takes me to page 33 of 62.

Does anyone know what the system behind this is?

Do you have a seperate # of post per page (ie, did you change it from the default)

I notice page=## links break under this.

I was under the impression that it jumps to the first unread post in the thread.

Yeah, clicking that link will take you to your first unread post.

But I haven't read any of the posts in some of the threads listed.

You probably managed to mark the thread/forum as read at some point, though, and that's where it defaulted you.
