My sister is going over seas (Military, army). I want to give her something that she can take with her; something that lets her know that her family loves her.

I don't know what they let her take with her or not... I don't want to get her a barbecue or something like that.
I was thinking a necklace of sorts? Maybe something that symbolize protection? I would hate to see her get hurt. She's Christian... so a symbol of gods protection or something like that would be prefect if such a thing exists?

Also it's extremely hot over there, so don't want to give her anything that can be damaged by heat or sand.

EDIT2: are they allowed to wear necklaces with their dog tags?

Make her a scrapbook? Fill it with pictures of the family/good times she's had over the past couple of years.

I have very few pictures of her.

EDIT: duh, don't know why she would want pictures of her self. But I have very few pictures of my family in general.

When I went abroad for two years, the best two presents I recieved was a collection of pictures of friends and family and a leatherman (engraved with my name).

The scrapbook is the best way to share stories and meet new people. I'm also a sucker for other people's stories, so this works wonders.

And you can get the leatherman at any Walmart. I plan on getting a replacement for around $45. The original lasted 4 years (I beat the hell out of it) and it made my life much easier in a 3rd world country. Make sure to get it engraved with her name. =]

I don't think I could take a class without sparring. That would be like a class without techniques. Sparring has value not only as an important (necessary) step in applying your techniques to fighting, but also because it provides a rush and feeling of elation, confidence, and joyful exhaustion that can only be matched by ... oh shit, I am describing sex again.
