    Mr. Gency.

Sorry. It always bothers me when someone messes that up.

There's even kind of a pun built in there.

I wasn't sure I had it right, but I wasn't assed to check. Genji is in FF6, right? Genji's glove, or something.

Interesting fact: Not only did I not know you could capture enemies through my entire first play of Disgaea, I refused to believe that there were even when several people tried to tell me.

Because it takes a leap of faith to imagine you could play anything for hundreds of hours without picking up on one of the key mechanics.

This is way off topic, but I just now discovered the 'view first unread' link at the top of the threads.

Real life facepalm. So yeah, you can feel better now.

e: Oh, and thanks Mighty, I'll probably pick up the first one tonight.

As far as main characters who should I use in my party at all times? Right now I have Rozalin, Adell, A red Mage, a Healer and a warrior. I'm in the room of despair. I want to get really high levels and some of the more interesting classes how would I go about doing this as fast as possible.

Yeah, I had to take Leharl out to the training map to throw a ghost into the start tile just to see it. Yup. you can.

Now you... explain this diagonal tossing about of characters... I must know post haste.

Quick question for the experts in the room: Is it possible to go through the game (and the sequel) using just the main characters (Laharl, Etna, Flonne, and others who I haven't gotten to yet but I assume are there) instead of using the generics? I find myself totally lost by choices here and am thinking of just avoiding the issue and overlevelling/overgearing my main characters. Has anyone ever tried this?

yea its possible. laharl is a tiny god in the first one, you could probably solo the entire game with him by himself. in the doublejump guide to the second one there are specific walkthroughs for each level using only the main characters, also.

It's possible to beat the game just with Laharl, from what I understand.

You unlock monster classes by encountering them, and human classes through Dark Assembly bills (and the Beastmaster classes by capturing a monster). To unlock a higher rank of the class you need to get the next lowest rank up to a certain level, which increases for each rank. If you don't want to look up the numbers, just occasionally check to see what classes can be reincarnated into.

You can either reincarnate when you unlock a new class for that character or wait until most of your team is ready and do them all at once. I tended towards reincarnating everyone at once. One of the characters that joins your party starts at level 1, so that might be a good time to do a mass reincarnation if you haven't done so already.

It's hard not to turn Laharl into a one-man killing machine if you use him regularly.

Sure. I played through, and beat D1, using only 1 generic Fighter.

D2 has no main character healer (can Flonne heal?), so going with just the main characters would be trickier if you're not already familiar with the game.

Flonne does have a healing spell or two, but she doesn't have the full range of spells available to clerics.

Healers aren't terribly necessary in Disgaea, anyway. Unless you want to unlock certain higher character classes, you don't really need them.

Just hit another direction just as you execute the throw. They'll land somewhere in between.

So, as the animation is happening then? That's probably the problem. I think the source I read before implied trying to time the button press while the target cursor is switching.

    Item World.

Every 10 levels in any item (even wussy ones like Mint Gum) one will appear as a bonus item. Just keep plowing through, you'll eventually accumulate a ton.

If you're worried about getting stuck in the item world, start with an item (like the aforementioned Mint Gum) that you can clear easily.

You unlock monster classes by encountering them.

Actually, in D2, you only unlock the lowest monster in the tier by encountering it. Then you need a monster of that tier on level X before you can use the next tier. You can capture them instead of levelling if you want, but you can't capture things above the tier that can create.

    Guys HALP!

You've gotten me readdicted to Disgaea 2 and I'm going for the worst ending (the only ending I haven't seen yet. D: )
I have all the requirements (99 felonies for Adell, all the ally kills etc.) and I'm able to reach the actualy battle with Rozalin/Zenon. 'Cept she's level 2000 and godly. She's pretty much 1-hit KOing my entire party. Even with the help from Prism Rangers and Defender. D:

Adell's my strongest char at level 2500 but he's never been reincarnated, so I think he's underpowered and sucks at the moment. Rest of my party's around the 1800-2000 mark. Should I just do a mass reincarnation of my team and go from there? Or just keep powerlevelling? I'm not sure which will end up taking me the longest to do. :P
